Now, they may not be actually directly linked to smoking, but rather, the fact that when I do smoke, I get SUPER dehydrated. In fact, I just had a small occurrence as I was trying to recall my dream to a friend and I did wake up in the middle of the night having to chug water because of how dehydrated I was (and still am now that I'm up)
In anyways, I'm putting the herb aside for a while, see if my theory is somewhat correct
I've had like 3 of 4 minor occurrences, always after a night I smoked, and didn't have any for the months I had stopped.
Exactly the same symptoms a rising in stomach fear and dream flashbacks each lasting nano second can't catch them or remember this can go on for hours little blips and I feel awful or sometimes just stop and I feel OK
Recently I had one last year and 2 this year my triggers def seem to be heavy exercise or stress
It's horrible thing but so supportive to hear of others going thru it
Best wishes from UK
I too am in my 60s !
Your points are interesting I do wonder if the focal seizures I get as so well described here are linked or some variation of migraine
It starts with a sudden rush of anxiety, but not the usual type. More like absolute dred, like you want the ground to swallow you up imediately. Then I get flashbacks, at the time they are incredibly vivid and I recognise them as previous dreams/memories but after a few seconds they start to fade and I struggle to recall what I just thought about. With the more severe "Episodes" the finale is a full body tingle and a fever like heat, followed by a pit of your stomach sick feeling. During this last bit I often feel very confused and forget what I'm meant to be doing. For example yesterday, I was making a cup of tea when one of these episodes happened and as I came back to reality it took me a few moments to work out why I was holding a spoon and teabag! It's so strange and difficult to explain that I haven't attempted speaking to a Dr. about it. Now they are becoming more severe and frequent I'm going to make an appointment this week. I'll post an update here if I get anywhere! It was such a relief reading the experiences here! I honestly thought I was losing my mind and the looks I was getting of people when explaining this I think they thought I was too!
Hello, i am a 28 yo male and have recently started to experience this phenomenon . It started when i was during my partners labour which took 3 days with very little sleep. After which we stayed in the hospital a further 4 days, during this time if i was to walk around the hospital and interact with people (say hold a door for someone) it would trigger these intense flashbacks to dreams which came on like a flash and dissapeared from my mind afterwards. At this point i dont remember them feeling partically scary but having just had my first born child i payed little attention to it.
8 weeks later I was driving and all of a sudden i went into a whirlwind of flashbacks to dreams one after another like a chain of 20+ images, each one at the time feeling extremely familiar as if theyd happened this morning, and then it completely dissapeared from my mind and on to the next and so forth. the next day i had the same thing but for around 10 images. Since then ive had at least one a day and today it happened 4 times. Everytime it happens i feel sick to my stomach my body feels a sensation of pure fear and my chest feels super tight.
throughout my life iv also experienced sleep related weirdness such as a lot of sleep paralasys and waking up with complete amnesia for 30ish seconds, not sure if they could be related.
Has anyone had any luck or help dealing with these episodes? Im yet to speak to medical proffesionals but im open to any sort of alternative methods because frankly it really sucks. Maybe i just need more rest/time off work.
