Please, everyone look up "Globus Sensation." I've had it for years, and it can get worse with stress and with GERD.
It makes me crazy, but at least I know what it is.

Hey I have noticed in the last two days something similar, I am seventeen, I quit smoking but recently started up again.....I don't know if it is from smoking or an allergic reaction...I have a lump behind my left tonsil it has a pus head and I have some smaller lumps in the middle of my throat. It feels very uncomfortable to swallow I feel like something is stuck in my throat...I am worried it might be cancer....I think I will leave it for a few more days and hopefully it will go away...If not I will go to the doctor....
I've also had this problem in my throat when swallowing, i feel a constant lump in my throat and it gets worse when i eat. It's not indegestion because i've concentrated on chewing my food properly and swallowing small amounts. I really can't think of anything else that this could be? I will visit the doctor in the next few days if it doesn't go.
How do you get answers on here? ?
Hey all
I had this feeling like a lump in my throat that has persisted for near 2 months. It doesn't hurt, and I can't feel any swelling or anything abnormal when I exam my throat never the less it feels like there is a lump sensation when I swallow. I went to my Doctor about it and she asked me all sorts of questions pertaining to any other physical symptoms and my mood. She diagnosed me with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. There are many symptoms, all of which I had, one of them being a feeling like a lump in your throat. Maybe this will help someone. Check out Generalized Anxiety Disorder and see.

Hi
I have had this same feeling of a lump when i swallow not sore but it is a very uncomfortable feeling for 4 days now whilst researching on here i found this website it explains that it can just be a case of stress. the checklist was all the symptoms that I have hopefully it will help a lot of people on here as i feel better after having just read it! My mom also went to the doctor with the same complaint years ago apparently and her doctor called it a nervous throat. Mine has coincided with trouble with wisdom teeth and hayfever so maybe the irritation has been exacerbated by this and the fact i'm due to fly 9 hours with a 4 month and 4 year old!!!

I've had this problem for years. I have been put one two consecutive treatments of antibiotics and have also done the barium swallow to be tested for gerd. However, I still have the problem of having this sensation of having something stuck in my throat. After years of insisting that something is wrong... my doctor finally did an ultrasound of my throat to find that I have a tumor on my thyroid gland which is now 12mm x 10 mm. I am finally going to have it removed surgically. After looking at my blood test myself, I noticed my calcium level was slightly elevated (the doctors ignored this) ... so I went online to find that the cause of elevated calcium levels are parathyroid disease. So please, if you are experiencing this same sensation, please insist that something is not right. Have your thyroid glands checked out!!! There is a chance that it might be cancerous.
hi, im a 22yo female. Ive been having this very same problem for about a year or 2 now. its this lump in my throat and everytime i swallow its this uncomfortable gulp. and eveytime i think about it i feel it and have to keep swalling. its so annoying. ive noticed this protruding in my throat , like an adams apple. i went to the drs though and got an x-ray because i thought i had cancer or something, i mean i have this slight lump in my throat like a boys that i didnt grow up with, thats uncomfortable when i swallow. but they said it was nothing, said no tumor, no growth and no infection showed up. so now im just stuck with this lump in my throat. im good when i finally get my mind off it , but soon as i think about it again im back at this uncomfortable (no painful) swallow.
I am a 43 year old nurse . 6 mos ago I had a sudden onset of clicking when I swallowed (otherwise perfect health), but it didnt always click if I turned my head a certain way. I waited for it to subside on its own. I googled-found many people plagued with same thing-very much misdagnosed. Hyoid bone involvment was what I finally found may be a cause-ussually from traume-wrestlers usually get this. The treatment is somewhat sangerous surgery-shaving down the Hyoid bone and surrounding ligamenture. I finally went to an ENT-Ears nose throat Dr-(You must consult a specialist-regular Drs dont know enough) I had a CT scan with dye and without-he found calcification on one side of my neck-the Styloid ligament and Styloid process (prominence that sticks out) may be problem. These structures pull the Larxny up when swallowing. He said I might have Eagles syndrom-I googled it and found many helpful sites. Good Luck...See an ENT and fro Gods sake-DONT SMOKE!!!!T Conservative treatment may include stretching excercises, Chiropractic, Steroid injection, NSAID non steridal anti-inflammatory drugs (like kicked up Motrin). Hopw this helps since so many people cant find answers. Julie
Could be Cricopharyngeal spasm. Symptoms are:
Lump in the throat sensation
feels like a golf ball, tennis ball, fur ball... is stuck in my throat
feels like my tie is too tight
feel like I am being strangled
my throat feels swollen
The symptoms can be mimicked by pushing on the cartilage in the neck just below the Adams apple.
The lump comes and goes depending on the day.
Symptoms are usually best in the AM and worse later in the day
Stress aggravates the symptoms.
Saliva is difficult to swallow yet food is easy to swallow.
Eating, in fact, often makes the tightness go away for a time.
The symptoms are similar to getting choked up at a wedding or a funeral.

That sounds really strange. I think that the throat issue I had was more related to anxiety. Does that make sense? I don't know if it does.
I had the same thing as everyone is talking about.. However I figured out that if I am dehydrated it gets worse. If I start drinking a lot of water and get back to a hydrated state it goes away....
i have something similar... im 14 and just got over a bad cold and at first it just felt like mucus in the back right of my throat near the entrance to the esophagus and every time i swallow it seems to move to a different location and it just keeps going in a circle... it is really annoying!!! if anybody has any advice it would be greatly appreciated
