Hey the white specs are probably tonsil stones if they are on your tonsils. They can be removed by either a long bobby pin or a cue tip (carefully) at home. Gargle with mouthwash to numb your throat a bit then use the hook end of the bobby pin to gently hook out the white bits and pull them towards your mouth. With the cue tip you don't hook, instead scrape. Hope this helps!

I have exactly the same sensation. I am going to go to the doctor. Research got me here and this information. "Esophageal dysphagia refers to the sensation of food sticking or getting hung up in the base of your throat". I am wondering if it is this. Will keep u all posted

HI I AM A PHARMACIST DOCTOR.I HAD YOUR SYMPTOMS FOR FIVE MONTHS AND I WAS CONFUSED AMONG DOCTORS DIAGNOSES.so i decided to diagnose it by my self.and i am almost healthy now.
the doctors first diagnosed me with GERD but i was sure that i do not have GERD(I AM 21 AND I AM AN ATHLETE AND DIDNT HAVE THE OTHER SYMPTOMS) of course i used the medications that doctors prescribed for me.but it didnt work even a bit for me.then they did a sonography for me and said there is nothing in your throat.so i thought with myself it is Globus hystericus.then i thought it may be something else ..............
i finally understood that it is an spasm in my sternocleidomastoid muscle.i shared this wit a doctor and she confirmed that after examining me.and then i was cured with a muscle relaxant and an NSAID(a kind of anti inflamation drug).and keeping it warm.

Could be a lot of things.  I got to this page because I am researching why my right side feels swollen and almost numb when I swallow.

However, I did have a similar symptom to some of you a few months ago where I felt an actual object in my throat.  I even went to a same day appt where the NP couldn't visualize anything except two white spots.  She figured it might be a passing virus.  It wasn't.  It was throat stones.  I won't go into it, but if you have this feeling, you should 'youtube' throat stone or tonsil stone removal.  There could be one or twelve hidden in the folds of your tonsils & you wouldn't know it.  Instead of going back to the doctor, I watched the videos and did the removals myself with no long term effects.

I have had a similar issue for the last 2 years and was driving me crazy. Seen 3 Ent surgeons and they all said nothing. I'm a neurosurgeon in training and it really bummed me out. I was loosing hope and viola turns out I had a maxillary abscess secondary to an impacted tooth. Apparently 4 molar wisdom teeth appear at the age of 25-27 years and usually due to limited space become impacted causing apical tooth abscess and localised spread from there to the peritonsilar region causing the dysphagia. I have had my impacted tooth maxillar (upper ones) removed 3 days ago and am still to finish a course of antibiotics but man has it got better. I would recommend seeing a dentist who would order an x-Ray which shows if an abscess + impacted tooth is present. Simple investigation takes less than 10 seconds and could shed a lot of light. Hope this helps. P.S try to spread this message to the others as well.

Best of luck

That just might be a sinus infection - not a doctor by any means but if it is, only antibiotics will take care of it; nothing over the counter will work.
