Don't ignore it. Go to you doctor and have a full checkup. My mother had a lump in her throat and it was not painful. It turned out she had a lymphoma which presented on her tonsils.

I think if this persists, a Candida infection could be one cause of feeling of a lump in the throat. If people are regularly on antibiotics, eating sugary foods and not healthy foods, that may be the suspect. Anxiety can cause that, but I believe people get anxiety from that lump in the throat feeling that's from something else. I've had it before and even when I'm not anxious. Ask a doctor about that.

Hi, I'm a 18 year old female who was having the same problem with lump in my throat, all I knew was I woke up one morning having a hard time swallowing. I had to swallow twice to get my saliva down. Then one day I was having gas problems and so a friend told me to dilute some apple cider vinegar, so I did and the lump in my throat disappeared after drinking a bottle of water with the apple cider vinegar. I'm not saying it'll work for everyone but whatever was in my throat I think the acidity in the apple cider vinegar helped at a lot. I'm throat is kinda sore because of the lump, but at least it's gone. If this helps anyone I'm glad.

I’m 51 and I’ve had throat clicking for over 10 yrs, I‘ve had a CT scan, and 2 different ENTs looked with a scope in my nose/throat and nothing has shown up. The ENT made a good point on my last visit; he said if it were cancer or something serious, it would have progressed by now (that was about 3 yrs after the CT scan). He also said that there are many many bones in the throat and swallowing uses those bones; they can get arthritic and can be the cause of the clicking. I have arthritis in other parts of my body, my neck being the worst, so I chalked it up to that. As for the sensation of lump in the throat, it can also be many different things. If you have GERD it can be from that; if you cough a lot, it can be from that; and get your thyroid checked also to rule that out, but for me it wasn’t those things. I have had a lot of dental problems and the gland in the neck is often swollen - we are trying to determine if there is infection - which could also cause some of these issues. In summary; see an ENT, get blood work done, see your dentist and DON’T SMOKE. And please get medical insurance - anyone that doesn't have medical coverage is taking a huge risk....! Good luck everyone.

re: Lump feeling in throat
Hopefully this will ease some minds out there. A year ago, I began experiencing a sensation that there was a lump in my lower throat (just above my breastbone and below my Adam's apple) which affected both swallowing and my voice. I couldn't actually see any signs of protrusion or bulging, but I swore that it existed - because the discomfort was very real. After a couple of months, I went to my family doctor and was put on a series of different regimes - Flonase, a low dosage of ranitidine (150mg), Neti Pot. When that didn't work, I was referred to an ENT, who performed an endoscopy on two separate occasions with no visible results. After another couple of months of utter discomfort, I asked if he would put in an order for a CT scan and barium swallow - which he did. The results came back as "massive acid reflux", which, according to my ENT can definitely cause the sensation of an esophageal lump. He now has me on a higher dose of ranitidine in the morning and Nexium at night. He also suggested that I focus on my diet (foods with lower acidity, less caffeine, less fatty foods etc). I will try to post an update when I start seeing results.

For anyone experiencing the same symptoms, I highly recommend that you don't panic like I did. Obsessing for a full year that it was cancer and that I was going to die and leave my wife and child alone added some extremely unnecessary and harmful stress to my life. Just chill and talk to your doc - get whatever tests done that he/she recommends, and then judge what your reaction should be. No need to give yourself hypertension over something that may or may not be serious. Good luck!
