hi all, i gave up smoking 10 weeks ago after getting my 2nd chest infection this year. smoked for 24 years, around 10 a day. since giving up i joined a gym, got another chest infection 4 weeks later then caught swine flu then pnemonia, been off work for 6 weeks now, on 10 day course of antibiotics again and using an inhaler but struggling for breath. Doctor hasnt tested me or blamed this on smoking ( i did tell him i gave up) i feel so fed up i feel like im dropping to bits. im 42 and was perfectly fit and healthy, never had any health problems, and i thought giving up smoking would help. it has eased my mind knowing what im feeling is down to giving up smoking but dont feel like i can stand another day of SOB.
Maybe try yoga to help with your breathing. For me after doing a yoga workout I feel I can get more expansion in my lungs. It doesn't have to be anything rigorous, just a simple workout. Sarah Ivanhoe is good, Rainbeau Mars, Baron Baptiste, Mark Blanchard, Namaste Yoga on Fit Tv is a flowing style yoga. Good luck to you. I just quit smoking today and have read a lot on this site so I know what to expect. Keep at it.
