Hi. Thanks for sharing. It's probably hormones, yes, of course, but I'm afraid to go to the doctor's for if it is hormones it will probably mean that I will suffer from hairloss also in the future as other girls have already written about here. Anyway I believe my chest-hair (this thread was called "i grow nipple hair" and now I have to write about chest-hair!!) has stopped growing more or less. I have had some acne, yes, but nothing serious. Did you manage to get rid of your hair?

You shouldn't be afraid to see your doctor, they will help you find the cause of your excessive hair growth. Have you heard of hirsutism? It's just hair growing in some places that it shouldn't on women caused by high levels of androgens(hormones) I am only just starting on a combined contraceptive pill so no changes yet but I have seen people who it has helped. The pill will balance your hormones which will lower your testosterone, the thing that causes the unwanted hair, and acne. I'm not sure about the hair loss thing, but your doctor will be able to give you the information you are looking for.
Also not to scare you but sometimes there can be a more serious underlying issue to male pattern hair growth like pcos, so it's always good to get checked by your doctor to make sure.

Dear Cindy, Guest is right. You should go to the doctor. Do you take contraceptive pill already? It might help. But your case seems quite serious, so please go to the doctor's. It's not turning away from the problem which will help you. If you're in for the complete thing, bodyhair + alopecia, better know and take action. My mom has had hair problems and my daughter has inherited them. I have been spared, don't know why. They grew chest and facial hair during puberty. My mom has hairy nipples and a few hairs between her breasts, my daughter has no hair between her breasts but hairs around her areolas growing towards the inside of her chest. My mom has a slight mustache, my daughter has mostly hair above the corners of her mouth and also a few hairs under her chin. My mom started having hair issues when turning 20 and she lost a good deal of hair after pregnancy and again with menopause. I always knew her with her scalp shining through her thin hair but she started getting bald when she was more or less 45. My daughter is 23 and she has already a very wide parting (there's 1/2 inch without any hair on top of her head and the rest is very thin). She started losing hair just after puberty, when the facial hair was still developing.

Hi Cindy. I agree to the idea that you should viisit a doctor. I have been diagnosed with PCOS (cysts on the ovaries) and it brought a whole load of sh*t with it, from breast hair and hairloss to overdeveloped labia and clitoris and underdeveloped breasts plus I will probably never have any children at least no tin the natural way. Go check it.

Hi Cindy. No, I havnt got rid of my hair, but at least the pills stopped it. I started getting pubic hair when I was 8 and the hair on my breast developed 1 year later when my breasts started to grow, so I was really early, but then my breasts stopped growing even before I had proper nipples and areolas and I started to have all this excessive hair, so we went to the doctor's and he prescribed me birth control pills which stopped the hair and my breast developed still slightly (at least my areolas got larger but that was about it: my breasts got stuck at stage 3 in the Tanner classification)

Hi folks. So I finally went to the doctor and they ran tests and yes it is hormones. She says it's difficult to tell how it will develop. I might be in for facial hair or for hairloss or for both or for something else. And oh yes my breasts started sagging and she says that they have started eliminating the fat they took on during puberty and that they will progressively empty themselves. They havent fully developed (thats why I have still puffy areolas) and probably never will. Great! As for the hair, it calmed down and it probably reached its end more or less unless there is another growthphase ahead. I count 119 around the right areola, plus 20 hairs growing towards the middle of the chest, 144 around the left areolas, 81 towards the middle of the chest, joining the hair between the breasts (that's where I got the most new hair: it's 147 this morning). My sister has 17 on her left and still 12 on her right breast, maybe she will be spared the worst.

Short update, still using this thread a my personal diary in a way. Next month I'll be 16 1/2. It's been such a long time since I started here. I stopped counting my hair, but I did count it this morning. It's more or less stable, even if there are still more. Right: 124 around the areola, 27 towards the middle of my chest (but maybe I separated them differently last time). Left: 146 around the areola, 88 towards the middle. Middle: 149. Anyway it's A LOT!!! So far no sign of facial hair and/or hairloss. But my breasts go on sagging. As for my sister, I believe she will definitely be spared the worst: 24 on her left, 13 on her right breast but there is also one hair which is growing in between her breasts.

Did the doctor not prescribe any kind hormonal treatment? Like birth control or an androgen blocker? I have the same problem as you except acne as well, but I started birth control 5 months ago and my breast have grown a small amount, from an a cup to a b. and my skin is not as bad as before. But the pill I was prescribed is high in androgenic levels so I am hoping to change my pill and get one more suited for lowering androgens as I think that will help even more with my problems

Yes, she told me there were possibilities but also that these treatments have other sideeffects. Above all she wanted to run other tests but Im scared to take them. It might be PCOS I dont know. How much hair do you have?

I was afraid that I may have pcos too but all the nurse told me was that my hormone levels were 'normal' which doesn't really help me at all understand what is going on. I have hair in the middle of my chest then a thin trail going down to my belly button where it gets a lot thicker from my navel downwards. I also have a lot around each nipple. I don't fully trust my results I received from the nurse as if it wasn't a hormonal issue then my acne wouldn't have cleared up from being on hormonal birth control.

Sorry I couldn't help you I'm really not very familiar with all this hormone stuff.
I haven't counted my hairs this time but I think it's pretty much the same as 2 months ago. It's my sister who was in for a bad surprise. She plucks her hairs and usually we waited for a few days in order to count them. But two weeks ago she decided she'd stop plucking in order to see how she looked with hairs and we discovered there were far more than we thought. It was stupid of me to think she would be spared: she got the first nipple hairs at 13 1/2 whereas it only started at 14 for me. So here we stand: she has 2 full circles around her areolas, there are 58 on her left breast and 51 on her right. Also so far 13 hairs in between her breasts. She's 14 years and 5 months. That's more or less the age at which I started this thread but she has more hairs than I had at the time. This was quite a shock. Also both her areolas have become puffy already and they are hard from time to time. So she's clearly developing faster than I did.

I read all your messages. Sorry it got that bad for you. It's kind of tragic to learn how your nightmares got true. Unfortunately, judging by my own history, the doctors may be right and you may suffer hairloss in the years to come. Good luck.

The doctor didn't say that. He said I might suffer from it, but there's no certainty at all. Please I'd like to hang on to this hope. Even if I know that with my condition being as bad as it is and even my breasts emptying themselves of their fat there will probably be more things ahead for me changing my body in a manly way.
Waht"s your story?

my story in a few words:
late puberty (12), a few hairs around the areolas from age 14 on, then real hairgrowth at the end of puberty, until there was a complete circle and also some hair between the breasts; also only small breastgrowth and no real nipple/areola development; beginning of a mustache age 17; diagnosed with general hormone problems of course, but treatment not really efficient; beginning of female pattern baldness age 25

This must be awful for you. It seems so tragic that all these problems hang together. I noticed this morning 2 hairs under my chin. This is probably the beginning of face hair for me. On my breasts I don't notice any real change though. As for my sister, a lot of pubic hair on the inside of her thighs, and the small hairs between her eyebrows and on her upper lip grow darker. On her breasts there are now 80 on her left and 74 on her right but her areolas have become larger so the circle is not really thicker, but there are also 61 hairs between her breasts and above all there is a whole area where the small transparent hairs also become darker which is quite different from the way it developed on my chest. She will end up even hairier than I am!
