Hey guys! I recently had Acute Pancreatitis. I first was eating broth the first week. Now I am living off tuna, raspberries, strawberries, bananas, mashed potatoes, low fat cottage cheese, simple salads, with cucumber. And tomato. I think everyone's diet varies. My Dr. Told me that I will have to experiment..which totally makes sense! But good luck.. I was released from the hospital one week ago and still have stomach cramping and pain... Good luck!!!

with all that oil you will kill some one's pancreas. do not listen to this person's advice, avoid fats period.

I too started out that way until one night out of the blue had a full grown attack. ended up having to have emergency surgery where a stint was put in my pancreas to my stomach to drain off infection. Lipase level 25000. 5 % chance of pulling thru. After all that then had to have my gallbladder removed from sludge not stones in it. Have had 3 attacks since then due to not eating the right foods. The Pain was the worst. This started in 2016. I didnot drink smoke either. You need to bring down your Lipase levels . Talk to your Dr. to get bloodwork on this. I get mine checked every 3 months.

Kaiser Permanente did a test a few years ago and found that coffee actually aided in a small way pancreatitis. But if you have acid reflux really bad like me it might be a problem.

I guess it depends on the person. Kaiser Permanente did a study in 2009 and found that coffee actually helped pancreatitis patients (but not if you have acid reflux). Also many web md's do not recommend chicken broth because it is high in fats. Any skinless chicken, fatless center cut pork loin, or skinless fish should be cooked in Coconut oil (even eating a spoonful is helpful); apparently this type of oil is acceptable. They also say low fat yogurt is beneficial because it is probiotic.

I just got out of the hospital with my 2nd round with pancreatitis. My doctor just labeled me chronic! I am in the healing phase but was wondering if I could eat salads with a non fat non oil dressing? Or should I wait until I am healed from this!

You can avoid problems associated with GERD and acid reflux while having pancreatitis by taking an acid reducer like Pepcid or another brand....i take omeprazole and it helps me a lot. Ask your GI doctor or a trained nutritionist first before taking.
