i think my 8 year old niece started her period

I am home with my niece and she is 8 years old and my wife is at the store...i told her to pick up pads but at first my niece told me she was bleeding, and i didnt understand what she was saying at first then she showed me the bloody spot on the sheets. I then realized it was her period... as her uncle i want to help herbut i dont want to further embarass her what should i do in the meantime until my wife gets home. (i can tell the poor thing is scared)

If she is in pain then let her lie down and curl up, if she carries on bleeding get toilet roll and fold it up. Its good that you dont want to embarrass her because she will be very scared and confused, but try and wIt for your wife because she will be the expert and your niece will feel more comfortable. Also maybe get her a hotwater bottle and put it on her stomach as that can ease off the pain.

thanks, my Niece started asking me a bunch of questions and I did my best to reassure her that she was going to be okay and just when it felt like a year had gone by my wife had gotten home from the grocery store and i let her take over from there and once she had the situatuation under control we called her mom. then my wife and i were talking to her about it (I didn't talk muvh of coarse but my niece is open to me and her dad and others) so it was okay for me after my wife got home.

ok you should tell your wife first
at then take her to a doctor as a doctor i can not tell you how
inportant it is the you take her to a doctor
just incase it is something else wrong
if she has pains give her panadole
