Why does your family have to put you on a diet? Can't you do that yourself? When I want to lose weight I simply don't eat as much. In my opinion exercise is a waste of time for losing weight except that it certainly makes you feel good but if you look at the calories expended and how much you have to do to equal one pound it's much easier to NOT put those calories in your mouth in the first place. Weight is caused by what you shove in your mouth so I prefer to stop it before it goes in.There are so many ways to reduce that intake that don't hurt at all. We all eat more than we need quite often. Sometimes just to finish what's on the plate when we really don't want it. Or when eating out they always sell you something that is much larger than you really want. When making it yourself, make half a sandwich with one slice instead of two.You don't need someone else to do it for you, take control of it yourself. You will feel so much better if you are doing it yourself. I hope this helps you.

This is a serious problem while im sure most of us are ashemed and are aware that it's bad, we don't need an ignorant people like you commenting on it. It's not something that you just "start".

This reply is for everyone that's written here about losing weight. I picked yours to place the reply on bc of your comment about being afraid of dying & I know that feeling. My daughter is 13 & weighs 300 lbs. Her dr. recently said she was prediabetic. She also has acid reflux & terrible feet problems that have resulted in physical therapy & braces. She also experiences shortness of breath. In addition, depression & anxiety thru the roof. Her dr. says everything would be fixed by weight loss (maybe not the depression & anxiety....but the rest)
Anyway, I started counting calories for her & 5 days a week we go to the park. We either walk, play on the slides, swing, play badminton, etc....anything physical that's also fun so she will look forward to it.
Counting calories when someone else does the cooking is very hard to do. But, if u can get the recipe from your parents, there are sites where u can enter the ingredients & get the total calories ~ u just need to figure the portion of the dish u had (ex: half, a fourth, etc) to figure your calories. I wish your parents would figure it for you, but if they don't/ can't, you CAN do it. My daughter's dr. said 2,000 calories is what she should stay around. MyFitnessPal is a good site to use for figuring recipe calories, they also have listings for generic items like "lasagne", "meatloaf", etc....as well as name brand items & restaurant foods. Non starchy veggies we don't bother counting ~ they're "free foods", as are condiments like ketchup, mustard, etc (learned from Weight Watchers!). We weigh no more than once per month bc weight can vary day to day, plus u see bigger results by waiting. It helps to keep a food diary. If in a month u DON'T see a change, look over the diary & your calorie figuring source ~ something may be off....especially if its something u have often that may be getting figured 500 calories off....In the beginning, it seems like work, but after a week or two it's easy & just becomes natural. You'll start to just know calories by heart & learn serving sizes by heart. Also, don't deprive yourself of things u want, just work them into your calories, even if it means an all veggie "free" food dinner....or if you're out of calories, tell yourself that u can have it the next day ~ just work it in....my daughter's lost over 40 lbs so far doing this :)
Hope this helps someone out there!
