Hi I am a  happily married woman 49 years old . But my husband still wants to have sex 3 or more times a week. We have 2 wonderful children, and I had my last child when I was 23. For 26 six years I have been using various types of birth control. About 4 years ago I tried using a fee cap for contraception and it has worked good for us,my husband can't feel it and both of us enjoys this method. I am still having normal periods every 28 days. I have a good friend who told me that at my age she  wouldn't worry about using any protection. Would I t be advisable to stop now after all these years.

I am having the same problems, I have been bleeding heavy now for six weeks. I am so depress, I have been marry for 24 years and have a very health sex live until six weeks ago. My husband is a great man and he is trying to understand what is happening but I can see he is frustrated. I am afraid that my marriage is in trouble we argue so much now about little things and this has never happen before, so I am thinking it is because of my situation. Don't get me wrong we do have disagreements but never to this extreme over nothing. I just want it to stop, I have never use tampons in my lifetime, now I use it along with napkins. It has to stop!!!! I have talk to many ladies and they all till me that are having hot flashes and sweat night, I would take that in a heart beat!!

I had the same problem, and I know how scary it can be!  I tried Yunan Baiyao, and it totally worked for me.  It's a Chinese herb developed to control internal bleeding, and it's generally well-tolerated.  One can find it online, at acupuncture schools, or from herbal wellness/remedy stores.

Yes.... I fired 2 GYNs after bleeding full on with HUGE blood clots. All they wanted to do was take my annual. But, they could never do an exam because the bleeding was so bad and blamed me for making the appointments - weeks in advance. It was CRAZY. This started when I was 42. The gyn kept telling me I was too young for menapause, but offered no help.

My bathroom, bedroom and living room would sometimes look like a horror movie. I could barely get up from the couch and was so weak, I didn't leave the house unless absolutely necessary because I would bleed out SECONDS after using a tampon. It was HORRIBLE.

FINALLY, I asked my friend who is an acupuncturist if she might be able to help me. She was a friend and had helped my husband overcome migraines about a year prior. 3 visits is all it took. She gave me some Chinese medicine and within 24 hours the bleeding stopped. I went from looking like a stuck pig to gaining strength and having a normal life again. She did give me iron meds. Said I was very anemic and treated me with CARE. That was what I was really looking for. CARE.

Eventually, I was able to find a GYN that was great... she also practices CARE... but it takes 2 months before you can ever get into her. She also approves of acupuncture...even promotes it for a healthy lifestyle.

I recommend acupuncture. It absolutely changed my life.

We have since moved across the country and recently the bleeding has come back (1.5 years later). Yes, these days I have been stressed. (it was not stress previously). And, for the moment I do not have insurance. I am about the be 45 so age has caught up to my symptoms... but it doesn't matter - I am finding a new acupuncturist FIRST. Then, when we have insurance, I'll head on over to a GYN.

I'm 46. I just went through heavy prolonged bleeding for almost two months, including flooding. I thought it would never end. It was scary. There were days I was bleeding so heavily I could not leave the house. First I went to my naturopath where I have always had very good success. I tried millefolium tincture (which is yarrow) and chasteberry +, first one then the other then both. No luck. Period kept going. (Chasteberry + worked very well for flooding with large blood clots in the past.) My naturopath suggested I see my GP. My GP did blood work and found I was quite anemic (no surprise). She was concerned with the amount of blood loss and anemia. She prescribed provera for one week to stop the bleeding, made an appointment for an ultrasound and a referral to a gyno. On provera my period stopped for two days and on other days was only spotting. But a few days after I finished the provera, my period came back worse than ever and I seriously thought I might need a blood transfusion. My ultrasound came back clean, no sign of fibroids. I'm still waiting on the gyno appointment. Meanwhile I went back to my naturopath and gave her the whole story. She recommended helonias carbo veg (a tincture taken under the tongue) and calcarea carbonica ostrearum (little pellets that dissolve in your mouth). The first day of taking these two remedies the flow declined substantially. On the second day it was almost gone. On the third day I had no period. I was surprised that naturopathic remedies could be so powerful. I took these two remedies for one week. No period. It's been a day since I finished the naturopathic remedies. No period so far. I'm seeing my naturopathic again for next steps. Still waiting to see the gyno. I have also been getting acupuncture for a few weeks which has helped me to sleep. I wanted to share my experience (so far) because I know I was looking everywhere for advice and quite freaked out, exhausted, etc. Hope this is helpful. Good luck.
