Hi there, I'm 28 and had the implant removed after having it for 6 months, I was moody, emotional, bloated and just horrible to be around. I had it removed because my partner and I wanted to try for a baby, a year on and we're still struggling to conceive, I would strongly recommend that anybody who has or is thinking of getting implanon to seriously reconsider it, it's the worst thing I ever did. I now don't ovulate so can't get pregnant unless I we have some fertility treatment :-(

HI im 27 and got implant in oct 09 when my son was 6 weeks old, i had it removed 8 months later because we decided to try for another baby, we have been trying for 2 & half years and nothing, i went to doc and was told im not ovulating and that i need to go on clomid and if that doesnt work i will get more tests to see whats going on, i am convinced it has something to do with implanon and i would urge others to think about it before getting it.

When i got implant removed my doc told me that if i get period straight away it meant i was very fertile and to wait one cycle before trying for a baby, i get my period like clockwork every month but no ovulating, its very worrying and i have seen a lot of sites where others have had same problem.

Hello,
I had the implant in for only 3 months and it didnt agree with me so I had it removed (and made sure all of it was removed as I had read stories about it breaking.)

Me and my partner agreed to start trying for a baby a month after having it removed.

We have been trying for over a year and it seems that I am not ovulating and have low progesterone levels every month and irregular periods.

Before the implant I was like clockwork! 28 days exactly, every Thursday at around 7pm! Last month I was 28 days, this month im over a week late and am not pregnant! My reliable cycle is ruined and we are now with the fertility clnic at our local hospital.

The only thing we can think of that might of caused this is the implant! I've spent so long trying to stop getting pregnant that it never crossed my mind we would find it so hard. I took it for granted thinking it would be easy! : (

Im 17 and i've had the implanon since the middle of February. It's now May and I've have a period for a week every 4 days for the past 2 months. After reading all these posts I am livid! My doctor never once told me about any of these symptoms! I've had migranes that make me want to scream, mood swings that cause my boyfriend and I to fight more than ever and im constantly feeling sick. I got the implanon because I got pregnant and had a miscarriage on Feb 17th, I was 3 months pregnant. Of course I don't want to become pregnant again which is why I got the implanon because the pill didn't work! BUT if the implanon causes future fertility problems then I would rather take the chance of getting pregnant again now, vs not being able to have children in the future. Needless too say, im freakin pissed!

I had Implanon in after having my daughter in 2008, It worked really well, No periods, weight gain or anything that people say they have.. In Janurary 2011 i go for my annual pap smear and the DR says my cervix is red and inflammed, all tests were done but they came back clear, Had implanon removed in March 2011 and suprise suprise my cervix got better, DR said it was hormonal. My periods come back light and scanty but i still managed to get pregnant in July 2011. Lose the pregnancy in august 2011 and given Methotrexate. Since had trouble getting pregnant, diagnoised with PCOS in May this year, something i've never had before, My hormones are all normal but i have so many cysts on my ovaries they couldn't count them all. Never had this before Implanon i have serveral u/s to prove it. Then i come to learn that the implant can actually cause the cysts. So if you want  to preserve future fertility then i wouldn't recommend implanon at all.

lol i'm more attracted to muscly men since implanon as well, i've had it in for 2 years and same side affects you had. My friend was looking into it today and her doctor said it can cause future infertility so i'm freaking out, my doctor said the complete opposite because it holds off your eggs keeps you fresher something of the such. but i really wanted to know what it is, if someone could let me know? thanks

I have had the implanon for nearly 2 years now and ive had no problems with it. I was having major headaches but was told they were not related to the implanon, and ive had no weight gain and only ever light periods maybe 3-4times. I got the implanon because of a new relationship because of course i didnt want to get pregnant. After reading all of his about future infertility problems im worried cause i do want children one day =/ I am leaning towards having it taken out but worried i will be refused because i have no "real reason" to. I hope that if all this is true that its not to late!

hi i've had the implant for a year now, i had it inserted to help my heavy periods and also because i was sexually active, at first it was great i loved it i had no periods at all but then after 8 months things started to change. I've always been a happy young lady but since the implant it all turned upside down. I have really bad mood swings, makes me cry all the time, feel useless and depressed, causing me to argue with my boyfriend and family, making my periods heavier than ever and having them every week!! its also been giving me spots. Ive always had a great figure but the implant had made me put on over a stone in weight, giving me scars from stretch marks all at the top of my legs which has really lowered my self esteem. I feel terrible i dont recommend this to anyone, it was the worst decision of my life and i cannot wait to get it removed in 2 days.

Hello. The first time I got the implanon it caused me quite a bit of pain in my arm so I finally git it taken out after 6 months - it turned out it was inserted too far in so I got another one in my other arm and it's been great for the past 2 years.
DONT WORRY ABOUT GETTING IT TAKEN OUT! It's not nearly as painful as getting it put in and takes half the time.
The only thing is I'm wanting to start a family and I'm a bit worried about FERTILITY. I've heard a few horror stories. Does anyone know how long it takes to conceive after getting i taken out????

Ok I HATEEEE THIS IMPLANT IN MY ARM! It may work great for not becoming pregnant, but I kid you not, that it has made literally 50% of my hair fall out. I could cry because it just happened to drastically. At first I did notice losing more hair in the bath tub, and when doing it. And now it is just constantly falling out and not just one or two strainds. I just called to get mine removed immediately. I have had it for 5 months now.

I've heard that you become extremely fertile almost immediately after taking this out of your arm. So dont worry. I have asked several doctors about this, because I plan on removing mine on next monday. Also a friend of mine who had hers removed, was pregnant about a month or so after.
