Idk if you'll see this seeing as you commented over a year ago. I'm 19 too and am on my 2nd implanon rod, if it hurt getting it inserted I'd see a different Dr because mine didn't hurt at all, the thing that hurt the most was getting the local anesthetic. Getting it out is much the same!

I had the Implanon in for 2.5 years and a few months after having it removed I found out that my hormone levels have been so badly affected that not only am I not ovulating, but I am effectively in peri-menopause. I'm only 25 and it is incredibly upsetting to think that no one tells you that there is a chance of this happening with Implanon. I've been seeing an endocrinologist for around 2 months now and take bio identical hormones daily to hopefully reverse some of the effects, but it is a slow process as it takes some time to find the right balance of hormones. In the meantime, I've experienced a heap of awful side effects including acne, severe breast tenderness and irritability. Still, at least I know that I'm on the path to getting my hormones back to normal and, fingers crossed, will have some chance of conceiving later on down the track.

Yes I agree. I've yet to have my first kid. Went on implanon when my husband and I dated. Was on it 3 years, my husband and I got married. I took it out. Now we are 3 years into trying to conceive.....and nothing. Very frustrating.

I am having the same issues. I had implanon inserted when I was 16 years old. I am now 25 and have been on nexplanon for the past 3 years. I got it taken out almost 6 months ago and nothing. No period, not able to conceive, absolutely nothing. My blood work came back within range so my doctor put me on Provera to make me have a period. I spotted a little, but that was it. If I dont get my period on my own in the next two months, she is transferring me to an infertility doctor. I am so nervous and scared. I had never heard of anyone having problems with this birth control until reading these posts. Good luck to all of you.

I'm going to give an update on my Implanon from 2010. I had my Implanon until 2014 after which I had it removed by surgery. I kept it in so long because they were unable to locate it. I had complications with my surgery I ended up being allergic to the numbing medication which has left scars. However after removing the Implanon I was able to conceive and my husband and I had two more children. It took a few months to get pregnant but I was able to. I didnt have a period or bleed at all in between having implanon removed and getting pregnant. I was actually seeing a fertility doc when I got the pregnant result!!! I am currently on nexplanon and they have checks monthly to make sure my nexplanon does not migrate. Don't just believe docs. Do your research on to get how to get your fertility back. And you may be pleasantly surprised. Good luck ladies

I had the implanon for 3 years, and now that my husband and I are ready for a baby, we are having a terrible time conceiving. We have been trying for 2 years unsuccessfully. My doctor also stated that it could be why i'm not ovulating.

i dont recommend the implanon im 22 had it for 4 years because i was scared to take it out and i have been researching , facts state it is designed to shrink your ovaries overtime thus causing you to be less fertile . Drs wrote more and more young females are coming in with ovaries like a woman approching menopause.

IMPLANON IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT PREGNANCY . THEY DO NOT INFORM YOU OF THIS PERMANENT EFFECT ON YOUR BODY ESPECIALLY FOR YOUNG WOMEN WHO STILL MAY WANT CHILDREN. IMPLANON SHRINKS YOUR OVARIES WOMEN WITH SMALL OVARIES HAVE LESS CHANCE OF GETTING PREGNANT. THEY ARE TRYING TO DEPOPPULATE THE POPULATION I WANT TO START A LAWSUIT
