Sorry didn't read all the posts but all the posts I did read seemed to be from people ttc and it not working after taking out the implant, actually I read this alot in other places.  I took the implant out a few months ago because it made me really depressed and I never stopped bleeding, sometimes it was so heavy, heavier than my normal bleeding and it just wouldn't stop, I put up with this for 9 months (although I did take the pill to stop the bleeding for a couple of months) it was just too much hormones I didnt gain weight but I always felt bloated.  And now I am a few months pregnant, I want to know how this happened, I had sex once and I wasn't careful enough, why is life so unfair, I guess I sound so annoying but I mean, why didn't one of the people who want a baby get pregnant instead of me.  Am emotional, pregnancy hormones, really scary as I am living in a different country for a long while

Yes that is what most of this thread is about. My husband and I tried for 2 years before fertility treatments and it turned out my progesterone levels were too low due to conceive due to the implanon

It will all depend on your hormone levels. I gave it a year to completely leave my body and we tried to conceive for another year unsuccessfully. I would have your hormone levels tested after a year bc that was my problem that was caused by the implanon

I personally have IMPLANON and I have not had a menstural period since May and its November now. At first I would always be cranky. My boyfriend wouldn't talk to me because I had up and down mood swings and he didn't know how to react to them. My arm is very tender when I'm sick. My arm where the IMPLANON is located will become numb and tingly at times. I also have gained weight ever since IMPLANON at first I was losing weight very fast(I wasn't complaining)n but when I started to notice the wieght gain I started to get upset. I lost 10 pounds in the first 3 monthes and ever since all its been is weight gain. I naturally have really nice skin, but ever since IMPLANON my face and body break out. I also get really bad headaches that last for like 6 hours or even days. I have heard many rumors saying that IMPLANON causes infertilty, but with all my research I have not seen any cases saying that it does. I need to look harder though. Some of the side effects are really bad, but I can live with them. If it does cause infertilty, then that's where I will be freaking out. IMPLANON last for 3 years, so thats a really positive thing. I could never remember to take a pill every day or to wear a patch constantly. So IMPLANON helps me get through the chance of pregnancy at a young age a lot better than some birth controls.

Hey, I know this is late but do not leave it in. I was told it could stay in as it was no longer working butits caused me lots of problems. There isn't enough research to show the effects of leaving it in or long term effects of having it in at all. I totally regret ever getting it :(

Hello, i received implanon in bootcamp last year in december, i have not had a period, except i spotted 3 days twice. i have not had any complications with it except for a small cyst, 3.1 cm. i Highly suggest it though, i couldnt take the pill ( forgetful) , couldnt wear the patch, as to it would make me too moody, i am allergic to nuvaring, and there are complications with iud, and infertitlty issues with depo. as far as im concerned, i love it, it has been a year now, no mood swings, no periods, and its very effective, My sister was on it fpr 4 years, and she got pregnant 5 weeks after removal. The insertion wasnt bad, i got through boot camp with it, its a little tender the first 2 days, but after that it was fine. good luck!!

I am 17 and I have had Implanon since I was 15 years old, when I first got it, I hada period for oer 150 days, they put me on birth control pills with the implant to stop the bleeding, which worked. Now, I hardly ever have a period, but for the past almost 3 years, I have been fighting yeast infections left and right. I mean the birth control is affective, it is actually the most affective on the market, but with all the infections, it isnt worth it. I hate it, i am actually trying to find a clinic that can get me in with in the next week to take it out,

I am 21 years old and I'm on my.second implanon. The only.side effects I've noticed are weird.periods like once or twice a year and they last for weeks with horrible cramps and bloating. Also extremly itchy area.. I kept getting tested for yeast infections and I've had numerous doctors look at it and no one knows what it is..I itch it to the point that it.bleeds and it hurts sooo bad.. when I got my first one taken out it hurt because.skin started attaching to it in my arm. Do not leave.it.in longer.than.3 years or it might be worse for you. But.now I'm worried about this.infertility I've had implanon for almostt5 years now... I feel like I should go and get it removed ASAP.. the pain in your arm goes away fully in about 6 months to a year btw..but all this.talk about not being able to conceive is not ok with me. It.is a very good birthcontrol but its not.worth the risk. :(

If all his is true why are doctors still implanting!! I am petrified of the repercussions. I have had implants for the last 8 years since my premature daughter was born. It was hell and enough to put me off having babies for all these years. Then I met my knight in shining armour and we wed on the 5th of January 2013. We decided not to have the implant out too early as we wanted to enjoy our wedding and have a few drinks and I didn't want to drink whilst pregnant or risk not fitting in my dress due to pregnancy either. It was removed on December 17th 2012. I bled straight away but it was like old blood, very dark and brown and nothing since. I did a pregnancy test last week and this week both were negative, no sign of a period to prove that I'm ovulating and millions of online forums with women unable to conceive, periods not coming back for years and couples having to seek fertility treatment.

I am scared, upset and confused and so so angry that implanon is not being investigated further and women given the complete facts before they decide whether to have these implants or not!!

I am 27 years old and had implanon for 8 years (3 implants). It was the best contraception for me and I didn't have a period for the entire time I had one in. No problems with mood swings, spotting or infections either. Once having my implant removed I conceived within 8 weeks and am currently 5 months pregnant with my first child. I remember asking about return of fertility and was told it should have no effect on your future fertility. I would not hesitate to have another implanon.
