yes, I was on it for a year and a half before I got married, and bled out the entire time. I even called my gyno and asked if it was normal and she said yes give it time.....so I did. It never got better. I am now married and been off of this birth control for a little over a year and still having issues with conceiving.....I also have been to my gyno and had tests done to see if everything is alright....tests came back great and I'm still not sure if I believe what they say. I really wish I would have done my research before getting on the implant. At this point im struggling with not knowing if this is the cause for my seemingly fertility issue?

I had the implanon for 3 years. Its been 2 years of trying to conceive again and I've had no luck. Month after month of disappointment. I've heard that the implanon may cause infertility. I am getting pretty discouraged. It appears I'm not the only one. Someone please give me some advice.

I had implanon for only a few months. From the start I knew something wasn't right. I had serious pain in my arm, swelling, severe itching and redness. The device was almost protruding out of my skin as though my body were rejecting it. I asked to have it removed and the doctor was a huge jerk about it and almost couldn't get it out and told me he was just going to have to sew it back up and leave it there, well he finally got it out. My husband and I started trying for another baby not long after that. No luck. I gained 40 pounds for no apparent reason, was losing my hair, stopped having periods and ovulating completely. My ovaries developed hundreds of cysts. We tried Clomid, no luck. I had every test possible but they couldn't find any reason why I should be having these problems. Even after having the implant removed it occasionally gets a large red bump over the area where it used to be and it is hot and itches like crazy. Well, 5 years after removal, suddenly all my cysts have dissappeared, I have regular periods again, am ovulating, have lost 40 pounds even though I haven't changed my diet or exercise very drastically, and guess what! I'm pregnant. How long is the longest amount of time implanon is supposed to work? 5 years?? I will never use chemical birth control again. The doctors always insist it's flawless when it's new, then a few years later come all the lawsuit ads on tv for this supposedly "flawless" wonder drug. I'm just hoping my baby is safe and healthy and makes it to full term without complications. Do not use implanon unless you do not plan to have children, because there is no guarantee you will be able to after this piece of junk is out of your body.

This is one problem we have with the internet. If you don't know what you are talking about, then you shouldn't give other people advice on it. Any medicine you put into your bloodstream WILL FLOW THROUGH YOUR HEART, that is common anatomical knowledge. Asis the fact that your heart is part of your cardiovascular system, not your respiratory system. All medicines have side effects and risks, but it is your personal decision to accept those risks, and that decision should not be based off of a 17 year old girl who clearly does not pay attention in school.

Hello. I had my implanon put it in August 25, 2011 when I was 17. I am now 20 years old and had an appointment a few days ago to have it removed but couldn't make it to my appointment:( my boyfriend and I are wanting to try for a baby as soon as it's removed. All these stories of having problems conceiving are starting to scare me :( should I expect to be infertile? If I can't get pregnant after it's removed mine and my boyfriends whole world will be crushed.... Being parents is both mine and his biggest dream in life. I've gotten so worried about being infertile after it's been taken out!!

Hi, i am 24 and have a 4 year old son. After he was born i got the implant and had it removed 18 months later due to a mass growing in my breast. I have had a miscarriage since then. And don't know if i will ever have another child. I have been trying almost 2 years now. So i wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I am on my second Implanon. The first one I had in for a little over 3 years. This one I have had for about 6 months. I recently decided to try to donate my eggs. I have no family history of infertility and no reason to believe I would have trouble. I got 11 days into my hormone treatment for ovulation and they told me I couldn't go forward because they were giving me high doses of medication but still my estrogen levels were too low and I wasn't producing enough eggs. She said she was glad I decided to try egg donation because otherwise I may not have found out. She is worried because I am 25 and suggested that I see a reproductive endocrinologist and possible freeze my eggs. What the what?! Freeze my eggs at 25? I cannot certainly say these issues have arisen from implanon but I read all the other posts and cannot help but think it has something to do with it. I am going to immediately get it removed and hope that my fertility is not too far damaged.

I have had the implant for 7 months now. And I hate it. I have had my period every day for 7 months. My face and legs are swollen. And my stomach cramps all the time. As soon as I can I am getting it removed. I was told after it was put in that it causes you to have an abortion. And after you have it removed that it's hard for you to conceive.
