Hello, folks. My grandfather has survived an infarct. I would really like to know something more about this. What are its signs on ECG? I would really like to know this. I would really appreciate this piece of information. It will mean a lot to me. Thank you in advance. Bye!
Hello. Infarct of the myocardium is also known as hear attack. The most common cause is an obstacle in coronary arteries. These arteries supply heart muscle with blood and oxygen. This is especially important when heart pumps faster due to physical activity or emotional stress. If these arteries are blocked, myocardium suffers due to lack of oxygen. It is called ischemia. The cells begin to dye irreversibly which is known as necrosis. After a while, a scar tissue is formed here. This piece of heart muscle will never function again. The ischemia is usually represented with elevation of ST segment. Scar tissue is represented with expressed Q wave. I hope this helps.
