Just wanted to say that I read all these posts before I had my internal hemmoroid surgery and they scared me to death!  I seriously thought about cancelling my surgery and just live with my problems.  I did eventually decide to go ahead with it and I was scared.  I want you to know that maybe by reading all these posts and how horrible they sounded it made me do everything I could ahead of time to help.  Two weeks before my surgery I decided to only eat organic healthy food.  I decided to try not to eat any carbs because for me they can cause me to have a harder time going to the bathroom.  I pretty much only ate a few items and the same thing every day.  I usually had peeled a ruby red grapefruit for breakfast then an organic apple with  about 10 raw almonds for a snack  If I was really hungry I would eat a boiled egg or maybe even two on occasion.  For lunch a romaine salad ranch dressing on the side where I would dip my fork in the dressing (hardly use any dressing this way but it still tastes good)  maybe a grilled chicken breast on it and boiled egg tomato nothing else.  (no cheese!)   no dairy)  I would have another apple and almonds in the afternoon if I wanted then steamed broccoli grilled chicken or greenbeans I would say u need to find what u like that is truely healthy and stick to it for two weeks before and afer your surgery.  (bonus  I lost 10 lbs before my surgery)  OK,  heres why I am posting.  I am so shocked that it has now been 10 days since I had my surgery.  I have never had any pain.  The only pain medication I had was ibuprofen   The only day I stayed home was the day after surgery.  The 2nd day I went out for lunch.  I was pretty sore down there but no pain ever.  I was so relieved and happy.  I had my surgery on Thur and went back to work full time on Monday.  I was sore but I could handle it just fine.  I never had to do any of those hovering or bathtub ideas other people had to do--thank goodness!  I never had any trouble or pain going to the bathroom afterwards.  So heres what I have done after my surgery that works for me.  Starting the day before my surgery I took 2 stool softners pills and also am still taking them at bedtime.  I also starting the day of my surgery (that night) I started drinking 2 tbs of cherry milk of magnesia before I go to bed and still do.  This works for me and its been 10 days and I have had no troubles and I think my stitches either dissolved or fell off yesterday.  I'm more comfortable down there starting day 9.  I am still healing because I do have little spotting so you should buy some of those thin pads to wear and change often  keep them clean.  I use about 10 a day and here is the most important thing that helps me be comfortable all day.  It comes in a little metal green box in the lotion department of your drugstore its called  "bag balm".  My Dr told me to get this and it is a life saver!!  Any time I ever feel uncomfortable or itchy I know its time to go get a fresh pad and a generous amount of bag balm--try to use the the flat part of your finger to push it in a little to help with relief but done put anything inside just the balm.

I hope these  comments help some of you.  I know everyone is different but I just wanted people to know that sometimes it isnt so bad but I do believer you have to get your body ready ahead of time like I did to speed up your recovery and  like my Dr said you have to do whatever it takes to not get constipated and if you are already that way before you even have the surgery you are going to be in trouble.  Do whatevery you have to ahead of time and keep it up for a couple weeks after till you are healed.  It wasnt that hard to do and I am use to eating anything and everything I want but please dont and take good care of yourself it will help you recover so much!

You can do it!!!!
