I was given methadose for back pain with klonipin and morphine..by the same doc.My breathing system shut down and it almost killed me.Be really carefull of the other meds you're on..Some doc's don't get it..Don't stay on it to long or abuse this medication at all..keep dose as low as possible. It is very difficult to get off of it..My advise is JUST DON'T take it..if at all possible the more I think about it..Some times people think they need an opiate for pain(just like myself)but I have found naproxen or other over the counter stuff does work..I have found this out the broken hearted expensive way..Take care hope your pain subsides...
For everyone that says they are the same thing, why not read the ingredient list first. They both have very different ingredients and also bind to different receptors. Its all there in plain english if you would take the time to look before making your comments.
Methadone is an opioid medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic. You should not use methadone if you have severe asthma or breathing problems. Methadose is more likely to cause breathing problems in older adults and people who are severely ill, malnourished, or otherwise debilitated.
This information is wrong there is no such thing as getting sick by taking more methadone
So many people complain about methadone/methadose and say that it is from hell. For me it is a lifesaver. I have been addicted to opiates for 10 years plus - 2 years I was on suboxone. I would much rather visit a clinic and take one dose of methadone that you drink in seconds. With suboxone, although I was able to take it in the comfort of my home, took 30 minutes to 1 hour to dissolve and within 6 hours I would get super irritable.
I don't understand the hatred of clinics or methadone. I love visiting the clinic! Even when there is a 45 minute wait - I am happy to do it knowing that I will feel like myself all day long.
People get so worked up and say the silliest things while waiting in line at the clinic - they throw insults and judgement and conspiracy theories around like it's going out of style.
Me - I am just thankful to have my methadone - and have no plans of stopping - why would I?
