Back in November I was 'diagnosed' with purpura simplex, which predominately occur on my thighs, hips, rib cage and sometime lower back. These bruises never really hurt but appear in waves sometimes i'll be clear and blessed with only one and others, theres like a whole universe of bruises taking over the listed areas above. My question is, ive been trying to figure out whether if purpura simplex can affect your menstrual cycle. I am still fairly regular BUT i have been experiencing severe menstrual pains a week in advance before my period. Is it just because im not a teenager any more and all those painful years u missed out on are coming back to haunt me or is there something else i should be worried about?
thanks

There is a possibility that purpura is responsible for at least one part of your menstrual pain. Purpura is the condition that causes your blood vessels like veins and capillaries to be weaker and when capillaries that are located just under the skin burst bruises form. And the skin on your thighs or lower back is much thinner and that’s why the bruises are more visible in those areas. But, your menstrual bleeding is caused by bursting of small blood vessels inside your uterus. It’s quite possible that since your blood vessels are weaker that they burst more during your periods so the pain is worse.
