My husband has very sensetive skin and after he experienced some rashes and irritations on his penis after sex we were able to assertaint that my soap was causing the reaction and as a result switched soap which seemed to cure the problem.
However, a new rash has developed identical to the first and this time I am also experiencing swelling and itching to my labia and clitoris. I do not have a rash, there is no discharge and no unplesant odours just a general soreness and discomfort.
Is it likely that we are both experiencing some kind of an allergic reaction to some new product we've come into contact with or could it be something else?
I should point out that I am on medication for high blood pressure although I have been taking the same medication for some years without any side effects, and I have recently been diagnosed as diabetic but am not taking any medication for that. I am in my mid 30's.

You should know that you, as a diabetic, are more prone to skin problems. When blood glucose levels are high, the body uses a lot of water and takes some from skin as well. This makes skin dry and dry skin leads to further problems like flakiness, itchiness, cracking. When skin cracks, bacteria may enter and cause infections. Since blood glucose is high, the body can’t heal it and you may need longer time to heal.
Due to your labia itching and swelling, I would also think of yeast infection. Yeast infection usually causes bad smell and cheese discharge but it could be just the swelling and redness.
I can’t say (nobody can without examining) much about what it could be. Since you are both having the same reaction, you could be passing something to each other (like yeast infection) but you could be reacting to different things, who knows……
I reckon that both of you should see a doc, especially you, to see what this could be. Online diagnosis won’t help you much!
