Late period, brown spotting, mucous and hint of confusion.

it's so unlikely that i'm pregnant... i was living apart from my fiance for four months because of work, and the last time he visited me I was having my period and we were, as usual, using condoms. two weeks later, i experienced some light spotting, and now my period is almost a week late. two pt's have come up negative. but i feel super bloated and grumpy. i'm crazy to think i might be pregnant, right? the other hypothesis was that i did maybe somehow conceive when my BF visited, but the pregancy aborted at the two week marK? which would explain the spotting and also the bizarrely late period? (i'm usually like clockwork.)
any insights greatly appreciated! i'm getting blood work done the day after tomorrow so that will probably turn something up, or at least offer a little more piece of mind... i just got engaged and am getting married in 11 months and am really hoping to not be doing that with a two month old! or rather, three month old! argghhhhhh.

Can someone update what happened to them??? If you were pregnant or what was the diagnosis??

I am having a lot of the same symptoms as a lot of the other posters here.

I am 15 days late for my period. had some light pink spotting for 2-3 days about 5 days ago that looked brown on the pantyliner but pink on the toilet paper... thought it was implantation bleeding but now not sure have taken 3 pg tests (8 days late, 10 days late and 13 days late) and all were negative.

Wondering when I should go to my doctor, if I am just very late or skipping this month or if I am pregnant???

So i am having slightly similar problems. I am usually on a pretty regular 23 day cycle [give or take a couple days]. I am now 12 days late, which is weird for me, because i'm never late and have never skipped a period. no matter how stressed i get. Usually when i am about to start, my breast hurt and get tender to the touch. So far they have not hurt at all. And i normally don't get cramps or anything like that, but this past week i have had stomach pains/cramping. I feel tired all the time, and it seems like no matter how much i sleep, i just wanna sleep more. I've also felt very dizzy and faint, and i get tired just from walking across a parking lot. I'm normally a very energetic person. I've had sex, but my guy uses a condom everytime, [not saying that can prevent it all the time] it seems kinda unlikely that i would be pregnant, but i'm not sure. i took a first response hpt a week after my period was due [though i took it at night because it says you don't need morning pee] and it came out neg. so i tried one that next morning, and it also came back neg. i figured i'd wait another week and if it still hasn't come, i'd test again. but this afternoon i noticed brown discharge/blood on panty liner. on the toilet paper it was pinkish red though. i'm not sure if its just me finally starting my period or if there could be other reasons. i could use help if anyone has any advice. thank you for yer time. My prob is like everyone elses nearly apart from diff length of days etc. My periods have always been on time but they are now 7days late and i also missed the last 3 days of my pill (also had sex during them missed pill days) as i was away for weekend and forgot about them which was silly of me. On the 5th day of them being late i got some brown looking blood, tho it was was very light. On the 6th day i got the same again but this time with some dark brown clots and now its stopped. I have not had sore breasts or felt bloated etc. I am now starting tho think could i be pregnant.

Has anyone had an outcome to there prob thats like mine and many other women on here ?

Hey im having the same problem. Im 7 days late and have been having pink coloured mucus when i wipe the last few days on and off. I did a HPT at 3 days late which was negative also tested day before i was due which was also negative. Will be testing again tomorrow morning. Oh and the last few days i been getting tender nipples and been nauseous for the past couple of weeks so thinking i may be. Im really hoping i am as we are trying for a baby.
I will keep you all updated and let you know of my outcome

I know it's been a few months, but in response to the below quoted post... I actually had 3 of those fits with severe pain and cramping (I had tested negative to pregnancy after being late but thought maybe the test was wrong and I was having a miscarriage) over a period of 1.5-2 years. I was finally diagnosed two years later as having PCOS.

The first fit the Doctor thought I had had an intestinal problem the same time I started my period (b/c I was on the floor covered in sweat and in the bathroom for an hour after two hours of laying on the floor in tremendous pain from cramps...) However, I'm lactose intolerant and have intestinal issues often, and knew that it wasn't the case. They did an ultra sound and said I had some cysts on my ovaries that looked like endometriosis however, I was completely inconsistent with all the symptoms of the disease. They concluded that it was a weird fluke. They didn't think it was a miscarriage so they wouldn't do a blood test for hcg.

Two weeks later I had another fit of severe pain and cramping, went back to the doctors but the first Doctor I had seen was on vacation so I saw a different doctor. The doctor opened my file, told me that what I experienced was normal for someone with Endometriosis and that was that. We immediately switched doctor's offices as the first doctor had told me I did NOT have endometriosis.

We did get a third opinion but it was inconclusive and the doctor only suggested that maybe the first opinion was correct.

A year to a year and a half later, fit number three. I was in such a bad state that my husband had to come get me at work after an hour of being locked in the bathroom (on the floor in sweats again) Horrid cramps and massive bleeding. This is an excruciating experience!!! We went back to doctor number three and I FINALLY was diagnosed!!! My ovaries were covered with cysts and it turns out my mother and grandmother had all the tell tale signs of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and both have the long term health issues that come from it. It is genetic and I do have it. My right ovary is the dominant contributor and I feel the cycts on it monthly. I do occasionally have problems with my left side. The "fits" turned out to be a clog from the unteran wall. Because my hormones are so crazy and bever balance out properly, I have "faux" periods or really late ones on occasion. The uteran wall becomes thicker than it should and as it starts to shed, the clots were blocking the exit and my uterus would bloat up until I was in such bad pain I hit the floor until the pressure and cramps were enough to push the blockage out.

I have been diagnosed now for over 3 years, my husband and I have never prevented my getting pregnant, but due to my condition, it took us four years to accomplish. I surprisingly(really, it was a HUGE surprise) got pregnant last christmas (2009) and miscarried at 8 weeks exactly. I was told by a friend (who has had 6 miscarriages and has four children) that some of her miscarriages were worse than birth because you are trying to squeeze a mass, be it maybe only an inch in diameter, out of a hole the size of a pin or smaller (her doctor told her the body doesn't always contract for miscarriages like it does for actual birth.) For anyone out there who has had these "fits" my miscarriage was easier and less painful than my three boughts of blocked/bloating uterus. Please do take it into consideration that it might not have been as painful due to the state of "shock" or "sadness" factor.

I am on here for the over due period and odd cramps as well as spotting, thanks for all who have posted, but for anyone who may also have PCOS, check out Hershey Medical centers recent studies on PCOS and the use of Metformin (a drug used for type II diabetes) I am a tiny, small framed, average weight for age and height so don't be fooled by the use of Metformin or the fact that you may not be able to process glucose correctly. Read up on it and check in with your doctor to find out any new findings!!!



"That was my post. Two days later (10 days of being late) I woke up at 5am with severe bleeding and cramping. It was the most blood I had ever seen in my life and it continued all day long. Even had pain in the left ovary. The pain was horrible.
I went to Planned Parenthood that day, and they did not examine me nore did they give me a pregnancy test with my 2 hours held worth of urine. The simply looked me in my face and told me I was having an "irregular period". I was ticked.
I bled til the end of that evening then went back to only seeing spotting once when I'd wake up and wipe, maybe brownish old blood in the afternoon when wiping, and maybe once again around midnight only when wiping.

On Monday I went to an even closer Planned Parenthood, who did take a pregnancy test with 4 hours of built up urine, she said I was NOT pregnant, nor did I miscarry cause if I did, the test would have registered with a positive result.

I am not buying it, so I am playing the waiting game, and will update you all again.

THIS month - cramps, normal period symptoms, but just an onset of thick mucus yellow/brown like liquid...with a spot of blood mixed in.

i'm really worried. hopefully i'll bleed soon.

I have the same problem. But it's not much of a dark brown.

ugh same issues as everyone else here..had unprotected sex multiple times the past few weeks, and was supposed to get my period yesterday. instead i have random bleeding accompied with brown discharge. ive taken two tests already and both are neg...i have an appt with planned parenthood friday soo hopefully this is just due to stress! also, last month i took the morning after pill and i heard from some people it messes up your cycle so im hoping its one of these two reasons!

ok so. aug 09 was the last time i had an actual period that i can account for where there was bleeding. It was a couple days late, which I thought nothing of since I had been VERY stressed from work for a couple of weeks. And then I spotted for a couple days.. still continued to think no big deal. Then frmo Aug 09-Sep 09 i had regular intercourse every 1-3 days. For my Sep 09 period, I normally will get emotional before hand and I typically will take every little thing out on everyone and be very annoyed. But nothing, in fact if it weren't for me taking my BC (which.. I wasn't taking regularly :-( ) I wouldnt have even realized I was just a day or 2 away from starting my period which according to my BC was supposed to start on a thursday. I cramped friday and saturday (no period).. sunday I had a light period. But instead of blood was a brown discharge. By monday I was off of my "strange" period. I did have sex on that sunday. As well as a couple days before and after my period..

Would this count as a period?? I'm not sure if it does.. and therefore not sure when I should take a HPT. I'm supposed to start my period in about a week and half.. so I'm waiting till then to test. But as far as taking other HPT I've taken 2 already.. both being negative.

Symptoms I'm having: tired, bloated, moody, food cravings.slight cramping, nausea, dizzy, and headaches.

Any suggestions? Comments? Advice?.. Anything??

I don't know if I am or am NOT pregnant.. I'm soo completely confused and lost.. and I'm not sure to believe the "period" in Sep was infact a period or not, and therefore don't know how to truly calculate.

I am having the same problem but I am 12 days late and had 2 negatives with FMU with First Response. I have been having some brown creamy CM and now I am having pink spotting when I wipe. I am thinking about getting a blood test done with my medicaid program, it will cost but I think it is worth it. I haven't had a flow period since August 28!

A week before my period was due i had spotting for a couple hours. it was like a mucus swab with pinkish blood in it. I thought this was implantation bleeding, since i read that this tends to occur a couple ays before your expected cycle. I am exactly 10 days late and have started having spotting (pinkish) only when i wipe. I am nauseas, but i do not have breast tenderness (which is normal because i don't have PMS symptoms, the nausea is not normal though). i am wondering if this spotting is to be considered a period since my upt (2) are negative, or if it is a pregnancy that just isn't showing up as yet on the tests.

I have sort of the same thing thats going on but instead I did get my period like 3 weeks ago. it was a normal 5 days. then a week later got it again for a week and 2 days. now sunday night and yesterday ive been fine until lastnight i went pee and wiped and there was brown on the toilet paper. and then this morning i went pee and i was fine but then i just went pee again and theres brown on the toilet paper again. i dont know whats wrong. could I maybe be pregnant and still got my period? I did read some women do get there period and are pregnant during the first trimester. I dont know. Im scared.
