Hi everyone, I'm 20 years old.. with a history of depression, anxiety, and OCD. I've recently also been diagnosed with ADHD. I've been with my boyfriend for almost 4 1/2 years. My last period was at the end of April 2012 going into the first week of may.. The Month of May I had strep throat and was put on medicine for that and swimmers ear and also had medicine for that. I was taken off my anxiety medicine and a couple months was put on adderal xr but in may they switched me to just regular adderal. I've been extremely stressed out over many reasons cause I am a huge worry wart ! I had sex with my boyfriend 3 times in the month of may... every time he used a condom.. the correct way.. condom was still good... and he did not cum inside of me, he pulled out before that but keep in mind the condoms stayed on! My period is now late and I'm very scared. Tomorrow morning I decided to buy a pregnancy test but am terrified at the answer. Also I'm never regular. I've noticed each month I get later and later. My boyfriend keeps reassuring me I'm fine but he doesnt understand how scary this is for a girl. Also by taking adderal I lost 15-18 pounds and don't have much of a appetite but I've been trying my hardest to eat healthy.. Anyone please give me any words of advice I'm terrified.. I love children but I'm so not ready. Did I mention I'm starting nursing school.. it's not a good time :/

wow this post sent my anxiety through the roof too! Calm down dear. It's perfectly normal for your period to be irregular and stress is actually a contributing factor. I myself suffer from anxiety and OCD so every month is the same as you have described and I'm on birth control. Perhaps birth control would be a good idea for you? Birth control has regulated my period quite well and if you're worried about the anxiety of taking the pill every day, look into the Nuvaring. It's once a month and works really well.

Are you going to psychotherapy in conjunction with your medication? This might be something to consider. Counselling is the best thing I ever did for my disorders and now I don't check the closets anymore lol.

Honestly though, you sound perfectly normal and safe. Don't worry so much (i know it's easier said than done but that's what it comes down to in the end).

Hi honey! I was once called - on here - the QUEEN of PREGNANCY - I am 99.9% certain that you are NOT pregnant! Along with your medications you have wonky periods and stress! It's like the planets lined up that you WILL have strange periods and up and down hormones! Certain medications can affect your periods and wonky periods can be caused by EVERYTHING you stated, as does stress! I know you are a worry wart - but please know that you are doing the best that you can - with NOT getting pregnant! IF you want to take it one step further, have your boyfriend ALWAYS use a condom and pull out right at the moment of ejaculation so the sperm and ejaculate go into the condom - OUTSIDE the body! Just try and get some therapy for your anxiety and depression, this should help you with your hormones and wonky periods - IF that doesn't work I think it's best for you to have a transvaginal ultrasound - to see if you have ovarian cysts or not! I just had another idea - has your thyroid ever been tested? With your anxiety, depression, wonky periods this might be the reason for ALL of it! I suspect hyperthyroidism, ask to have your thyroid THOROUGHLY checked! I hope that helps - please relax and your period should start soon!
