Hi, I am going in for a LEEP procedure in 3 weeks and have read a bit about it. First I was wondering if anyone had any important advice, and also how other women have told their boyfriends about it. I am sure that my current boyfriend did not give it to me, but I haven't told him about my mild dysplasia due to the HPV virus. I plan on telling him about the surgery but do not want to tell him about HPV. Has anyone else been in this situation? If so please help me out here, or even if not what do you think??
I have been in your situation and opted to tell my boyfriend about the HPV and the LEEP procedure. It was scary, of course, but he has been much more understanding and supportive than I expected. If you still decide not to tell him about the HPV though, you can just tell him you have some abnormal cells that may turn into cancer eventually if left untreated and that your doctor has recommended an outpatient procedure to remove them. That's the truth minus the HPV diagnosis. Although, if you don't tell him about the virus he may unwittingly pass it on to the next girl and that's how we all got in this situation in the first place. It's really not that big of a deal for guys and if the is at least a little understanding and willing to listen to all the facts then you should just go ahead with the whole truth. Good luck.

I too am having leap surgery. My doctor told me that the only way you can get the HPV is thru intercourse. You may have contacted it years ago. Unless you both marry a virgin, and never have sex with another partner, chances are the woman will contact HPV. 80% of women have it. Most men have it too but they are never tested for it.
