Lexapro and sweating

I have been searching for any information on Lexapro. What I am concerned about is the night sweats I am having. I am taking 20mg, for 6 months and I experience night sweats every night. Last night I got up and realized my t-shirt was drenched. I usually just go back to sleep, but last night scared me. If anyone else experiences this from Lexapro please let me know. I am just about to lose all faith in anti-anxiety. I mean lexapro might be doing me more harm than good.

in addition- I am not pre-menopausal. When I first began experiencing the sweats- I had my OB check my hormone levels and they are fine. I am a mid 30's gal. It's not due to menopause.

I have been on Lexapro for 1 1/2 years and I have night sweats so bad that I wake up some times 2 or 3 times a night and change my cloths. I stay on lexapro because they help with my panic disorders. I should talk to the DR and see if there is some thing they can do for the night sweats. Good luck

I GET THE SAME SIDE EFFECT FROM LEXAPRO. TERRIBLE SWEATING MAINLY AT NIGHT,WAKES ME UP, AND LAST ABOUT 10 MINUTES THEN GOES AWAY, ONLY TO COME BACK ABOUT 7 OR 8 TIMES A NIGHT. KH.
I started lexapro about 2 months ago and have been thrilled with the results, but the night sweats were becoming more frustrating, and the interuption of sleep was unnerving. I decided to try the herb BLACK COHOSH, and only from GNC because the stuff you buy in grocery stores are lesser and cheaper herbs. I also took ZzzQuil, from the makers of Night Quill. For the first time ever in weeks I have had a delicious nights sleep. Good luck
I TOOK LEXAPRO FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS, AND THE SWEATS -DAY AND NIGHT- WERE UNBEARABLE, ALSO I WOULD GET GIDDY AND LIGHT-HEADED. I STOPPED THIS LEXAPRO ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO, AND WOULD YOU BELIEVE THAT I AM STILL GETTING THE SWEATS, AND GIDDINESS. I AM ON AN OLD-FASHIONED ANTI-DEPRESSANT NOW CALLED CIPRAMIL,(VERY MILD ) BUT STILL GETTING SWEATING AS A RESULT OF LEXAPRO REMAINING IN MY SYSTEM,, EVEN THOUGH I STOPPED TAKING IT 4 MONTHS AGO...... I AM 63 YEARS OLD AND DEFINATELY NOT MENOPAUSAL... I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND LEXAPRO TO ANYONE. THE 5 MONTHS I WAS ON IT WAS THE WORST TIME OF MY LIFE. NEVER, EVER AGAIN. KH.
I had the exact same problems. My body would get hot and start sweating. My sheets would get wet as if i had got to bed right after a shower. I was embarrassed with the girl that changes my sheets. Other side effects i had: Incredible intense dreams (as if i was in a 4D theatre) and muscle spasms that would wake me up. I woke up also after every dream 6-9 different dreams a night, i woke up after every single one. I remembered even the most accurate details of my dreams. It was impressive, i had dreams even in english and french, I'm from Mexico but speak the 3 languages. And remembered every single word. it was scary. When i got to bed sometimes i was in a state as if i was sleeping and awake at the same time, i was dreaming and at the same time understanding the news on TV. I didn't got any rest at all. I took 20mg, last week i reduced it to 10mg and now i'm taking 5mg. the next week i have an appointment and i will tell my doctor that i cannot take it anymore. Its a HORRIBLE thing for me.
I know this is an older thread, but when you are saying night sweats, are you also referring to burning up? I feel as if I'm on fire inside, not on the outside to touch though. It's almost like 'icey hot' has been rubbed on me. Is this what you guys are referring too?
I've been taking Lexapro for years and just came off it recently. I started experiencing night sweats and night terrors after coming off it but never had problems when I was taking it.
Been on Lexapro almost one year. Was on 10 MG at first them went to 15 MG four months later then back to 10 about two months ago. did not realize about the swEATS and thought it was my wife and her keeping the heat on high through the winter as she comes to bed late and the heat travels upstairs. I get the sweats sometimes and get hot and throw off the covers and then when I get too cool, have to put the covers back on. Not sure of where it comes from but could also be anxiety worrying about the sweats. Does not happen all of the time, and usually not in the day, but have issues with it. The med seems to help bu twould like to wean off of it over time. Any other comments are welcome.
I know this post is over a year old but I just wanted to add my experience for anyone reading this post. I know I am going through peri-menapause because I had occasional hot flashes and night sweats prior to taking lexipro. But lexipro, which is an SSRI medication which is used to treat combination anxiety and depression per my psychiatrist, does work for me. It got me out of a fairly severe depression triggered by self-induced anxiety, which was due probably partly because of the peri-men a pause I am going through. But the hot flashes I am experiencing nightly are so severe that I have decided to come off of lexipro. I tried staying on it and took marlissa (a low dosage anti-pregnancy pill to regulate my hormones) but I still got severe night sweats every single night. I had to have two blankets under me and over me so that I could take each one off because twice a night I was drenched in sweat, soaking my pillow and covers and blanket and clothes. I also weighed the fact that the severe depression seems to come on once every 10 years and that the periodic mild depression and anxiety tends to be treatable with light therapy and exercise. I'm so glad to hear that I am not alone in my struggles. Best wishes to you all.
I have horrible night sweats from my lexapro. I just stopped taking it and my night sweats r worse. So I'm not sure if my night sweats r from the lexapro. All I know is that it is a side affect. Good luck!
Hi, I've found that ever since I forgot to take a pill on time it has messed me up a little. =) try and take the pill on time everyday!
Ive been on Cipralex/Lexapro for four years. Have gained a lot of weight, and endured daily and nightly flushing and sweating, with my head and hair soaked and sweat running into my eyes. [All my primary care doc says is lose some weight - I've stopped even processing such ludicrous suggestions!] I'm 66 so this has nothing to do with menopause. I'm so sick and tired of always being sweaty and uncomfortable... going to ask my pdoc for topamax or something else with weight loss side effects. Any suggestions?? Not even sure the Cipralex is helping...
yes I just started 2 months ago and I am always drenched.
