Lexapro and sweating

I have been searching for any information on Lexapro. What I am concerned about is the night sweats I am having. I am taking 20mg, for 6 months and I experience night sweats every night. Last night I got up and realized my t-shirt was drenched. I usually just go back to sleep, but last night scared me. If anyone else experiences this from Lexapro please let me know. I am just about to lose all faith in anti-anxiety. I mean lexapro might be doing me more harm than good.

I have been on Lexapro for about three years for now. I have about a week free of night sweats. It does certainly disrupt my sleep. In my case, I don't even feel hot, I just wake up drenched in water which causes shivering and let's admit it it not very comfortable; so I have to change everything (sometimes even the bedding) few times a night. I am not happy with thay because it is dehydrating and exhausting but I have been taking Lexapro both for chronic migraine and depression. I can deal with depression but not excruciating migraines which may be caused when the medication is stopped.
By the way, IF anybody is considering to stop this medication, talk to your doc because it has to be tapered down. You shouldn't be stopping it at once.
Good luck!

ME TOO... I have been suffering with sweating for a very long time...years...and I figured it was just menopause because I had started menopause when I turned 40 and I am now 54...I could not believe, that the sweating was so intense all the time, because of menopause....But I blamed it on that...so I started doing some research because it is so bad and I feel like Im going nuts..All I do is sweat.. and saw that lexapro causes intense sweating... I am kind of relieved that I figured it out. I need to get off of it because the sweating is making my life miserable..I feel like Im burning from the inside out I cant go anywhere and enjoy myself.. I cant wear jackets, I have to wear my hair up Im always with the fan or air conditioning.. I just feel GROSS... It makes me so moody..Nobody understands... I just wanna sit on my couch all the time with the fan on I can't enjoy my life... I love to dance but if I go out, Im already sweating right when I get out of my car..
20mg is an extremely high dose. It sounds like you may be getting seretonin syndrome (overdose) immideately contact your doctor and cut the dose down to 10mg. Which is extremely high. I take 10mg and I had anxiety so bad that it felt like someone was literally boot stomping my chest 24/7, and panic attacks that would cause me to think I am having a heart attack and once I collapsed. My anxiety was so bad I was almost diagnosed with MS because i had such severe symptoms. And I would consider 10mg too high of a dose... 20mg is what you take after you get used to your 10mg dose after 4 or 5 years.
20mg is NOT a starting dose.
5mg is starting dose, 10mg is a high dose.
This medication is rewuired to be taken once daily. Such a low dose and then alternated days will cause HUGE issues in your brain chemically and neurally.
Stop taking lexapro or start taking the 0.5 daily. It should be taken in morning not at night. Unless you have issues falling asleep.
Me too. I had a job interview and I've always has a problem with prespiring mostly on my head. This was terribly excessive. I didn't feel nervous, but by the end was so embarassed. I don't know if I'll get a call-back or not. Now I see excessive sweating is a side effect of Lexapro. I only take 5mg, but still have this problem.
My problem as well. Sweating purfusly at work when a lot of others are not. They always ask if I'm ok. Swearing at night soaking the sheets. Then when I put my CPAP on more sweating from high humidity in the air. Ready to go to something less sweating (Mimnesota) Lexapro 20mg
I also take Lexapro and experience sweating. The benefits outweigh the sweating.

I know this is an old post, but just curious how long it took for everyone to start feeling results of the medication? I’m on 5mg & haven’t noticed much yet, 15 days on it Thanks!
I was on Lexapro for year and have had trouble sweating blaming it on other things like blood sugar talked to my Dr. Several times I was even referred to all kinds of specialists but at that time I had changed my insurance and had to get a new Dr. She reviewed everything and she asked me to try a different antidepressant to see if it was causing my problem before she referred me to the same kind of specialist and it seems to be working I was and am surprised the other doctor didn't catch this issue
Same, only taking 0.5 but sweating on check and legs every night, as soon as I fell asleep.
This is my experience too. Just started Lexapro 10 mg a couple weeks ago and at first it was just clammy hands and feet but now it is full on night sweats.
