Hello. I spent 18 years on lexapro for anxiety and irritable bowel issues. When my anxiety went up, I would end up with diarrhea and nausea. The lexapro raised my blood pressure, made me aggressive, and I was put on a hypertension medication. Finally, I did switch to a new doctor. She performed a genetics test that revealed I am positive for MTHFR mutation enzyme, or something like that, meaning I don't make folic acid as I should and that prevents neurotransmitters from developing normally in my gut. I am now off Lexapro and Metropolis and on a Medical Food prescription Enlyte-D. After 3 weeks, I am a new woman, I have energy, I think positively, I like life and I have no more nausea and diarrhea. GONE. The MTHFR-positive is very common. Enlyte-D by prescription has done wonders. It takes a couple of weeks to kick in. God bless you, and I hope this helps anyone reading.

I have been on lexapro for 9 years. Stopped taking it 23 days ago, went to my doctor for a check-up, and my blood pressure was 155/88. My normal pressure is 127/68. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have been on lexapro for several years and micardis hct for blood pressure for about a year. Would I just now start to experience high blood pressure after all this time?
