This is actually for my best friend. She's without access to a computer, so I created an account here to help her out with her question.

Lately, her boyfriend and her have been having unprotected sex. He hasn't pulled out of her while ejaculating.

Now, the other day she begin her period-so she thought, at least. The problem is, in all the years we've been friends, her periods have been heavy and last for about 4 days.

Last week, she was bleeding so lightly that she only needed the tampon in for a maximum of 4 hours I think she did, and her period lasted about half the time it generally does.

She wants to know of it's possible this could mean that she's pregnant.

I searched a website a few minutes ago. From reading it the answers we got is possible STI, cancer, pregnancy, or just a change in her cycle.

Now I know from myself that spotting after your period is normal. That's happened to me here and there-generally if I'm under a lot of stress.

But as far as my best friend goes...this actually acted like her period. Mood swing, and everything. But it stopped within 2 days, and it was extremely light.

Any ideas?
I would be leaning more towards a change in her period...or just a "light" period. However, since she has had unprotected sex taking a pregnancy test wouldn't hurt. Also, she should seriously consider getting on the pill....what she is doing is way too risky and pregnancy will be inevitable if it continues. She could just schedule an appointment at the local clinic because its standard procedure to do a pregnancy test before prescribing the pill...either way she should do it SOON...real soon.

Thanks for the quick reply! She was actually on the pill years ago, and then moved onto the shot. But any good from those being in her system are gone now.

She's said she's talked about it with her boyfriend, and neither of them care if she gets pregnant. It's not that he absolutely refuses not use a condom, they just..."think" they're okay with the thought of having a child.

Problem is, he's no good for her. But unfortunately, she needs to realize that on her own.

Thank you, though. I'll let her know :-)
