Hello,
I have the same thing kind of I think....I have a bunch of reddish/brown spots all over my lips. When I went into the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. He noticed them and took pictures. Doesn't know what they are! Neither does my gp. Anyone ever figure out what they were from?

I have the same problem too. It comes from licking our lips alot and he gave me a lotion called cetaphil. he says to put it on everyday in the morning and night so i suggest using it. Hope it helps!!
I've had a brown spot on my lip for 2 weeks with mild numbness, and been worrying about cancer since it runs big in our family. I haven't seen a DR and so not excited about that option. BUT I started using Blistex medicated a few months back, probably 5x/week. I'm giving it up today, and will try to remember to post if any changes or the spot goes away from the change.
A few years ago...I had dark lips from out of nowhere so I covered it up for a couple years with lipstick. One day I met a lady who told me to get cold castor oil and rub it in circular motion on my lower stomach..I did this every night and I took a spoonful of it too within a few weeks it was gone. She said it comes from a blockage in the intestine. It's been 7 years now without it. No more purple lips for me..Thank you God..
I have this problem too showed up about six months ago dark spots on bottom lip and dry out badly with no lip balm first doctor said oral herpes and gave anti viral....didnt help second doctor wasnt sure tested for herpes and came back negative...first dermatologist said not sure maybe herpes or something else but no answer...second dermatologist said not herpes makes me use aquaphor healing ointment nothing else...says blistex and all that other stuff can make it worse and she was right the aquaphor relieves dryness well. Then went through patch testing thinking it was allergies and found nothing and now on predisone steroid in hopes to fix but they are high hopes i will let you know.
Funny, I too noticed a dark ring around lips, kinda like lip liner, after using blistex this winter, my lips got very cracked, and then the line formed, wonder if it wasnt the blistex
I too had this problem. Did all the allergy tests. I have none. Did the inflamation blood test i had very little. The lupus test was positive. BUT. there is nothing like this in any of the lupus books. One doctor said maybe tooth issue..bacteria from a bad one. I am going to the dentist next. then to a lupy doc. The test for herpies virus was negative as well.
I am having the same reaction exactly.... what have you learned .. my lip is swollen , I have a fairly large dark spot in the middle of lower lip
and its tingling... mild pins and needles. ?????
see a dermatoligist.
It is possible that it is skin cancer, and it needs to be removed and tested.
If it has not been removed, then you have not gone to a dermatoligist.
I think just may have something to do with a chapstick b/c I found my chapstick last night that I lost shortly after buying it and I put some on. This morning I wake up and my upper lip is slightly swollen and I have red blotches. It's not hugely noticeable b/c it takes up most my lip but I notice it. I notice my jaw and face feels tight too.. Maybe slightly swollen too. It's tingly.
About a year ago, I noticed a tingling sensation on my lips. A few days later I noticed a little red mark on the lower left corner of my lip and the next day this same spot turned dark. I have seen several doctors, but no one seems to know what is going on with me. One doctor thought it was an allergic reaction to my lip gloss, but symptoms did not go away after my discontinued use. I've also tried lightening agents on my dark spot with no luck.
I am very frustrated now because I fear that something is seriously wrong here, but not even a doctor can help. I almost always feel a certain tingling in my lips; it gets worse when it's hot outside, or I'm in the sun. It also seems to act up if I kiss someone. I'm also concerned that this is contagious, which makes me fearful to kiss people. Is this contagious? What is this??? And how do I make the swelling feeling and tingling sensation go away??? I thought it may be a cold sore, but this isn't likely because I never had blisters, or oozing.
I would prefer to use a natural remedy, if possible. Another doctor thought that this may be a sun spot on my lip. If so, how do I make it go away??? It is very frustrating to have to cover it up with makeup everyday and it has definitely lowered my self esteem a bit, for fear that someone may see it; I am also scared to get close to anyone, because I don't want them thinking I have something contagious to pass onto them. If this IS contagious, how can I get rid of it so that I don't pass it to others? I am in desperate need of an answer, so please help me! PLEASE!!!!

I see last post was over a year ago, and this was the site popped up when I googled. Today I had a spot on my upper lip that began to tingle and feel warm. It swelled, like a bee sting. As quick as it began, the swelling went down and theres a red spot where it was. It feels a little tender (sore like the after effects of a dentist visit & getting the needle) and Im sure it will darken. I too, have had this on occassion, the only exception is it has always happened on my bottom lip. I smoke, so I was wondering if there was any relation. I have never been to the doctor about it - it happens very random to me, but have thought it might be something like a blood vessell/capillary broke, the spot fills with blood, it goes down as it disperses. It leaves a dark bruise left behind. I am loyal to my brands of lip products - and theres nothing that stands out. Like I said it happens randomly to me. Interesting that there is very little on this problem.
I have had 2 dark blue spots on my lower lip for years. If this is of any help, I had a dermatologist tell me they are "venous lakes" which is like varicose veins. Laser treatments would help. I always have to wear lipstick otherwise people think I have a tiny tattoo. The only odd thing is I had two different doctors tell me I'm at higher risk for colon cancer because of these lip varicose veins. Bizarre, huh? Mo of Cleveland
I have the exact same problem - black spots all over my lower lips. It started years ago as a tingling sensation, then a small rash, then 1 black spot, which eventually grew to many. My guess is this is due to an inflammatory response to allergies, but I've been to several doctors, dermatologists (two of which took biopsies to rule out cancer), and an urban skin care spa, but noone can diagnose it. I've used hydroquinone. One dermatologist suggested plastic surgery (without knowing the cause), and another suggestedfraxel laser surgery to remove them, however fraxel laser surgery is very expensive and can cause further swelling and dermatitis. This is one case I wish Dr. Oz would pick up.
Did you ever get an answer?
