my son has had numerous lipomas over the years. sometimes they hav even been surgicaly removed & bx. Non have been cancerous.... But he keeps getting more. In the last 10 yrs. He has probably had 30 or 40 of these. He is getting very concerned since his Father has recently developed Ca (gastric)...... What can he do next.
I have also have mulitple angio lipomas, and at 35 years old I've to date had almost 70 removed. Unfortunatley they often tend to grow back, sometimes in the same place. All the doctors and surgeons i've spoken to say that currently there is no way of preventing them returning, and the only thing is to have them surgically removed if they are particularly bothersome. Apparently lipomas are not usually painful, but for me being a dancer, i feel so conscious of my body having all these lumps allover. If they are tender to touch, it is another kind of sarcoma and there would be more of an urgency to have them removed. I have tried alternative therapies such chinese herbs, accupuncture etc but with no difference except spending alot of money.
Sorry no great advise, just for you to know that your son is not alone, lipomas are quite common ( my legs and back are like patchwork quilts from all the scars )
best regards
