Hi,

I am onto my 3rd Mirena and it was more painful than birth - I have been experiencing a lot of blood for the past 5 months, that is the reason I changed my Mirena, hopfully this helps me and the problem goes away and I can get on with living a normal life - pain free

I've had the mirena iud for 2 years now. Since I've had it I've only had my cycle the first month after. So for almost 2 years I've had it a no period. Sadly last week I started my cycle and its lasted for 7 days now nonstop heavy bleeding. And my strings are hanging out. I think I may have a possible lawsuit because its apparent its no longer in my cervix.

I got Mirena April 1st. It was extremely painful. I started bleeding on April 8th- about 1.5 weeks early. I was always very regular, so this freaked me out. It is now April 17th and I am still consistently bleeding. It has not been light, but not been heavy at all either, rather consistently regular. I am getting MARRIED this weekend and I REALLY dont want to be bleeding!!!

Also- side note. I didn't want to have sex at all for about a week, because it felt "funny"- not like I could actually "feel" it, but, just knowing it was there freaked me out. Basically, I immediately regretted it. But, now that its in there, I decided to give it 6 months and see if I like it then. Plus, I'm scared about the pain of getting it removed!

HI I got my Mirena put in on May 6 and I did have spotting but it went away after a few days. Then I few weeks later I got a period which was a week early. I have been bleeding for 8 days it started off light and has been pretty regular not heavy at all. My boyfriend doesnt care about a little blood when we do have sex, but I sure do I should not have to worry about making a mess everywhere.

I have a call inot my doctor I just want it to stop. I have had no other symtoms of a period just the bleeding.

I am glad I am not the only one experiencing this.

Hi I got the Mirena put in last month and had experienced spotting, at the end of the month my cycle came on and it was so heavy the mirena fell out in the shower. I got it replaced earlier this month and experienced a brown discharge and now my period is on and has been for twelve days. I am very aggravated because I can't have sex with my husband and I know he is frustrated too. I am thinking about getting it removed and just get a histerectomy since we do not want any more children.

I had my IUD put in and a week later began my menstral cycle. It lasted for 4 weeks. Light however huge inconvinence. Not liking this IUD so far. I previously had the copper IUD and it was awesome. Menstral cycles only lasted 4 days on a precise schedule.

My Mirena IUD was placed about two and a half years ago, in June of 2011. I have not had kids and the insertion was probably the worst pain I have ever had. I had a vagal response--my heart dropped, my blood pressure dropped, I was pale and clammy and I started violently throwing up everywhere the entire time they were putting it in. I had to stay at the office an extra hour and a half until my blood pressure came up again. Even then, it would have have been worth it if it had worked. Instead, I have long but very light periods. My old "normal" periods lasted 5-9 days and were heavy. Now they are light but happen all the time. When I worked night shift I had months of straight periods that almost made me leave my job. Now that I've been on day shift for over a year my periods happen about every two weeks, last about eight to seventeen days. A few months ago I had one lasting 23 days. It's all light but unpredictable and happens so frequently. It absolutely effects my sex life and sex drive. I don't have cute underwear anymore--I just buy black so the spotting doesn't show. My doctor and my OBGYN just keep telling me to hang in there. All my friends with the Mirena lost their periods completely but I'm on mine more often than I am not. It's been 2 and 1/2 years and I don't think anything is going to change. I think I want to get mine out and switch to the copper. No one should have to be on their period all the time.

It was not that painful to be inserted.. Being way over dramtic arnt we. It might be different for some people. For me it was a pinch, not worse than childbirth. Although my period has been going on for 9 days very very heavy and light cramps everyday
