Hello All! I have some questions concerning long term effects of long distance running, I have heard it's the best thing for you and have run the Chicago Marathon myself but am wanting some more details on the subject. My uncle and my pastor have both run several marathons and are both well into their sixties, as far as I know they do no other heavy impact exercise but both have had knee and hip problems. My uncle has had his hip replaced and his knee repaired and my pastor has had surgery on both. I was wondering if there was a connection and if it could had anything to do with how they trained as well. I would love to think that distance exercise is the fountain of youth but it seems to make sense that one's joints would break down eventually. Does anyone know of any long term studies done in this area?
Feel free to bump this if need be. Thank you all so much!

Bump! That's an excellent question i've asked myself. It'd be nice to get a fresh perspective on this.
