It wasn't a diet. I kept my same eating habbits and I eat a lot, it just all depends on how your body reacts to the birth control. I finally got the implanon out and got on DEPO so hopefully I start gaining some weight.
I have two friends who have this birth control...both of which have lost a lot of weight without trying. Is it because of the bc, I don't know..but they think it is related only because non of their habits have changed. Everyone is affected differently by bc so it's hard to say but my two friends have not had any weight gain.
I've had implanon for almost 3 years now in haven't changed my eating habits tried dieting a couple of times but nothing I have gained about 70 lbs and no matter what I do I can not seem to lose it. I will be getting it removed on April 23rd hopefully after it is out I can lose weight. Finger Crossed
I am 20 years old and on my second implant. When I got the first implant at 17, I gained a stone and a half in weight. I'm not sure if the implanon was to blame for this, or if it was due to poor diet and lack of excersice.
When I was 18, I decided to try to loose the weight I had gained, and through exercise and watching what I ate, I lost two stone, and was lighter than I was before I began using the implant.
So, from my experience, I can say it is CERTAINLY possible to lose weight while on the implanon. The implanon does not make you gain weight, but the chemical etonogestrel which the implanon releases in your bodyit increases appitite, meaning you want eat more. However, a strong will power and strict diet means that weight loss is very possible.
Also, while weight gain was reported for 1 in 10 people in the implanon study (available on their website in the "undesirable effects" section,

), weight loss was also reported as a side effect for 1 in 100 people. So both are possible!!
I would advise anybody considering the implant to try it for themselves. Everybodys body is different and will react differently to any drug. :-D
I have been on the implant for about 2years now and I have put on almost 3stone. I am an active person, I swim and go to the gym 4 times a week but am finding it very hard to loose weight. Although I could get the implant removed I am finding it very hard to find another form of female contraception that would not make me put on weight. If anyone knows of any that are less likely to make you gain weight please let me know as I am running out of ideas at the moment.
Lola, i think we fall in th same category have lost weight seriously en height too, am thinking of removing it bt thn my daughter is just 1 yr am not ready to conceive.
look since having this put in my body i have actually started eating healthier which i had already done before i also didnt change my workout which i do everyday for at least and hr if i dont feel well, it is almost time for it to eb removed and i cannot wait i never wore pants this large (16) in my life before this i was a steady 135-140 lbs and a size 7-9 pants i cnat stand to look at myself and it rly casuses depression i dont suggest this at all unless you are desperate and about to loose insuraance becuz this stays with you for years but other than that NO RUN AWAY!!
