I'm in my first serious relationship with a great guy, (he's 24)- who's also a virgin. We've been together for a year now and I would LOVE to get the 'first time' over with, but after hearing about my friends' experiences, for a long time I've been a little paranoid about the pain and bleeding involved. Some have said that it hurts A LOT, some say there was almost no pain at all, some were neutral about it. I just want someone to put my mind at ease!
Basically, my question is: How much will it hurt? Can you compare it to something? What am I in for? And how much/long is the bleeding?

I think I can help here. I'm 22 and I only lost my virginity recently. It HURT! The first time we did it he couldn't get it all in. We didn't use lubricant though, and there wasn't much foreplay. There was no bleeding though. Since then I've practiced with a vibrator (no bleeding during practice).
I did it with him for the second time, this time there was a bit more foreplay, and we used lubricant. It still hurt, but not as much as the first time and he managed to get it all in. This time it bled. It bled a fair amount too, and for a quite a while afterwards there was some spotting. I'm thinking the first time I did it he didn't get past my hymen. My guy is on the larger side of average.
The pain I would say is about that of stubbing your toe really hard, or getting your fingers caught in the door, or stepping on a pin. It hurts, but it's bearable. If you take your time and use lubricant it's not so bad. When it started hurting I asked him to slow down and it stopped hurting so much. It also alternates between pain and feel alright/good.
I'd say get the first time over with. It's not that bad and you feel closer to your guy afterwards.
