I have the exact same problem! it's been years now but it is especially worse this year >< I think the problem is empty intestines or an empty stomach..by this I mean that if I have just gone to the bathroom or haven't eaten in a while the noise gets very loud..even if i just have a lite snack and am really hungry the noise persists! I have just tried to make sure I have a full stomach at most times, especially after doing a number 2 haha

I am terrified because I am having the same problem as the girl who replied. I'm 14 now and it started in 7th grade And its been going on for 2 years. I started taking cheap gas relief and it started working but now I'm like im mined to it. I recently ate a large amount to try and make myself poop and I drank milk hoping to at least have diarrhea but no.. I'm now constipated, drinking a lot of water, and I'm having a test today and I sit in the front of the room next to a bunch of boys. Honestly last night I just wanted to die. It really is ruining my life. I hope the best to all of you, as I know what you're going through and I know how terrible it is.

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis about 5 years ago. It is in the same family of disease as crohns. IBD (inflamatory bowel disease) It's fairly serious with no cure. I have been on Lialda ever since I was diagnosed and while the meds work to keep the real hellish symptoms at bay, they do come with side effects. Bloating, gas and massive amounts of stomach activity especially after eating. I would not really call it growling, more like processing type noises kinda like squeezing and grumbling (I know weird right) The problem with it is that these noises also come with a lot of discomfort which I have had to learn to deal with. I also tend to not want to have physical interation with my girlfriend anymore because I am kind of embarassed about it. She does not care, it's a "me" thing. My advice is that if you feel there may be a problem and diet and other things don't help, get checked out. I was stubborm until my mid 30's and could have caught this disease earlier had I been open with a doctor.

The exact same thing has happened to me. I realised it around January just after my prelims (preliminary exams...I stay in scotland so it may be different for others. Any.. I was in my second last period of the day, just after lunch and the most horrific noise came from my stomach, everyone laughed so I laughed to thinking nothing of it... everytime I had english (the class it started in) it happened..so I began to stop eating lunch as I thought that is what caused it. Then it was happening more often. On 28th February 2013 was my last FULL day at school. From then on I was off most days as I was too scared to go in because it was so quiet in classes. Then on mothers day -10th march- I experienced this serious stabbing pain in my right side. My mum took my to the hospital and they had to do blood tests, urine tests, scans, the lot but couldn't understand what was happening. I explained the sounds and the pain but they still couldnt figure out what was going on. So they had my stay in over night (and unfortunately the next day was my sweet sixteenth) I really really wanted to go home but I wasn't able to unless I actually ate any food, but I had no appetite whatsoever. After months of this carrying on I was still pretending to be sick to stay of school, I had applied for college thinking nothing off it again and I was so excited. In june/july I had all my important exams which I had to sit. I was dreading it because its obviously so quiet in the exam halls and there are so many people. So I missed my first exam which was english as I had a panic attack because I was panicing so much about my stomach. After that I missed two other exams. So school helped me appeal so I could recieve my back up grade from my prelims. It helped a lot but since I was hardly ever in school I didnt gain the right grades for college. I quit school because of my stupid stomach. A couple of weeks later I got a job in a shoe store -which is now five months ago- and im still there. Whenever im doing stock take or im counting the money in the office with the boss thats when I can feel it coming back. I try not to think about it but all I can hear in my head is "its going to make a noise...hurry up so you can leave". Its horrible. I really want a good career with children but I cant unless I go to college which I am too scared to do. Even going to friends houses is a challenge for me, even if im travelling on a quiet coach to a different place in the uk. ITS HORRIBLE. I know how you guys feel, but no body I know understands and its hard to explain it! Anyway I know this doesnt help but I needed to get it off my chest. I really hope you find an answer for this some how.

I have suffered with the symptoms of Growling stomach(especially in quiet places)such as in my lessons at school and exams where i cant concentrate or actually do any work-really frustrating!!

diarrhea or runny poo all the time which is worse on some days than others (sorry for the gross details)

flatulence-farting which i feel like i am just doing constantly and is really embarrasing and just feels like it cant be normal  :(

feeling of your stomach insides actually moving about and feeling of gas or something kicking my stomach from the inside and regular pain like a tight knot inside

Theres just so many more symptoms which im sure you are aware of if you have the same problem as me but these are the main ones that are just wrecking my life basically!!

Well anyway i began to blame the food i eat for these symptoms as i looked up on the internet that these symptoms could be because of 'lactose intolerance' or 'ibs' or all sorts of things.

I have to tell you this though ever since i began refusing to eat wheat, milk, too much fibre like loads of fruit, i have really noticed that in just a couple of days the symptoms have almost disapeared :) i didnt really know what sort of things to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner as i always had a milk with cereal, sandwhiches and pasta but now i just mainly eat salad with rice or baked potato.Honestly if you really have no idea whats causing these symptoms just try cutting out wheat(so pasta, bread)whether its wholegrain or not and milk.See if this works for you because so far its done wonders for me.

HI. I have similar stomach/digestion/bowl problems. It is currently on/off but def improved by doing these things below:
-Chicken soup with the bones (add garlic cloves, turmeric, fresh ginger, whole black pepper): ingest the soup and some garlic only.
-peppermint tea
-small quantity muesli cereal with a bit of cold milk in the morning
-avoid eating junk before bed and too much gassy foods
-play sport that you enjoy to relieve stress

Hope it helps

My digestion can get stupid loud, especially if I've consumed a large amount of bread within a 24 hour period. While I don't have Celiac disease, I believe that bread and gluten does constrict the flow of normal, healthy digestion, especially in excessive amounts. Cutting back bread and sugary foods/drinks, and cleaning my system through a detoxifying process (warm lemon water in the morning, high quantity of fiber found in fruit/vegetables, not grains, a gallon of water daily, and experimenting with spices like cayenne pepper, tumeric) eliminated 80% of the issue for me within a week. I've also learned that too much meat will also slow the digestion down, so I keep my diet restricted to only a small helping of meat each week. (fish and nuts make up a lot of my protein)..

I now notice that what I eat directly impacts the noises my gut makes, and it gets much easier to control once you take the steps toward the initial detox.. try it! You'll be glad you did

I agree, I felt that I must drink more water. As soon as I drank a small bottle of water, it went away. Very disturbing to hear your body making strange noises:)

I'm having the same types of issues.  I have found that betaine hydrocloride helps me. From what I've read, we sometimes don't have enough stomach acid.  There's ways to test to see if you might need it, just go online & google for not enough stomach acid.  It helps, but it hasn't completely taken things away. And it's hard to judge how much to take.  I don't know if this is what's wrong for sure, but I had all kinds of medical tests and everything came back negative.  Seems like the hydrocloride worked better in the beginning so I'm a little worried that it may not continue to work.
