Hi all,

3 months ago I had a cervical ectropion/erosion cauterised as my gynae insisted it was done prior to insertion of a Mirena IUS. The cautery was a bit rough - the gynae had to stop a few times due to "smoke" from the burning. It was worse than I expected, but not unbearable. He said not to have sex for 10 days, didn't give me any other advice. I nearly passed out on my way back to the car, & was shocked at how long it took me to recover - I was practically off my feet for 6 weeks...! My poor old cervix had been like that for years but never in a way that gave me hassles!

I changed gynae's, my new one was dubious as to whether I should have had my cervix cauterised at all. She fitted my IUS 7 weeks ago. It was rough at first, back pain cramps, but seems to be settling down.

The thing is, since, I no longer "feel" like me. Sex before was great, intense, but now, although the initial discomfort is gone, it's so much less - like I've had dental anaesthetic in the places that used to be so sensitive!

Any ideas? Is this the cauterisation, the IUS?

Thanks in advance for replies
