Hi I just googled this issue because I just started having it too. I'm so glad I'm not the only one and that it's not dangerous. It sounds like no one is sure what it is, and that it could be cysts or endometriosis, or maybe not. I'm wondering how old all of you are? (If there is a commonality to the age). I'm 44.

i am 44 and just started having this same problem about 5 weeks ago! my period seems to have been different also. sort of like clumps coming out and then after a week or so after i thought it was over, spotting. so weird... i am having an ultrasound tomorrow. based on what everyone is saying, it seems like it will be a waste of time. at least it does not seem to be serious. i just hate the idea of living with it. sounds like there needs to be a study done. i will try to post any results.

SUCCESS!

Hi!

I'm 44 and I posted above a couple of weeks ago (that I was glad to find out I wasn't the only one). I just had to find this page again and tell everybody that two weeks ago I read one of the posts on this discussion that the woman's doctor told her to stop having sex for two weeks and she did and then it went away... Well I stopped for two weeks having clitoral orgasms and just tried again today, and NO PAIN!!!

I'm sooo happy and wanted to tell you all, so just try abstaining from anything for 2 weeks or more and then try again. And please post your updates for others.

All the best.

Very hard to find information regading this type of pain on the internet...surprisingly. I firat encountered this pain 4 years ago during orgasm only. A sharp or tigtening pain near whta I thought was my right ovary. They did a sonogram and found nothing. After resting for a few weeks with no sex, the pain did go away. I have now been in a steady 3 year relationship with amazing sex. I climax easily and have intense orgasms. This "pain" came back just about 6 weeks ago. I finally went my doctor (gyn) when having sexual pleasure/orgasms were very painful and I was experiencing similar cramping during exercise. I have always trusted this doctor and after reading about ovarian cysts and endometrics, I was concerned. He concluded that with the intensity of my orgasms I am contracting a muscled called "injune ligament". It is a thin muscle that stretches across the abdominal/pelvic area. Usually men strain this muscle (not the groin) however it is a muscle that contracts easily with your abdominal (see abdominal wall strain) which is why I felt this during orgasm (my contractions are intense and I tend to lean forward crunching my abdominal wall) and during exercise (abdominal crunches etc).

Hope this helps because I have spent a while searching this out with no answers. It seems as a woman experiencing this pain during orgasm-we are lucky enough to have the orgasm-but it needs to rest. My doctor said no sexual activity & no physical activity for at least 2 weeks. We were almost at 2 weeks when I caved into sexual pleasure and the pain was still ther...less intemse...but still there. We are now going to try waiting the full 2 weeks. Since it is a muscle, there is no surgery needed, no expensive medicines needed (advil or motrin only)...just rest-rest-rest!

Good luck!

I've been having similar pain for the past month and am happy to have found a discussion on this (By the way I am 25 year old). So from reading all of the above I get that it's either (A) some sort of cysts etc... or (B) Too many orgasms... I'd hate to go through all kinds of test and spend I don't know how much money and not find anything, but I don't want to ignore it any longer. My pain is not terribly bad, just really uncomfortable on my lower left side. I have been having orgasms regularly and it increases with them...I guess I'll try and hold off for two weeks and see what happens. Thanks for everyones input. If I have anything further to say I'll try and find this page again. Good Luck to everyone.

I have had this problem as well...for a while now. I am 19 years old. The doctor thinks I might have endemitriosis and an ovarian cyst, but the medicine they put me on for it has not affected the pain at all. It happens right after orgasm, not during though. It is so bad I want to die. I just cry and cry. I have only been married for 6 months, so its kind of causing a problem. I have tried going without sex (mainly because of the pain) for three to four weeks. Its horrible on my husband and has done nothing for the pain. Has anybody found out anything else?

Hi, I've been experiencing a sharp pulling pain whenever I orgasm and it's kinda freaked me out a bit. I never used to have this problem but in the past two years since I had my first kid it is getting steadily worse. I'm not getting any conclusive answers from my gyno and I don't have insurence to go see a specialist. Anybody have any ideas?

This problem started a few months ago for me. I am 20 years old. I don't know if it's because of intensity of orgasms, or something else. I've only been having sex for a 3 and a half years, and it didn't start until a few months ago when I had a sex dry spell. However, orgasms were still had though. I am thinking of relaxing the muscle by not having orgasms for a few weeks, but sounds hard. Also, I don't just get this pain during orgasm, I also get it sitting in certain positions. I can't afford the doctor, because I feel like they scam me out for different testings that don't actually help with my problem- and then charge me more for it because I am a student. I hate going to the doctor, and try to avoid it as much as possible. But I don't want their to be some huge internal problems going on inside of me either :-(

A year ago, I started having the same pain. It was a sharp pain on the lower left side of my abdomen, only during orgasms, and it was like pulsating. I went my obgyn at the time, and after some tests( including an intravaginal ultrasound) that showed nothing wrong, he recommended a hysterectomy. After researching and reading about similar stories, in which the women's pain continued even after hysterectomy, I went for a second opinion. More tests were done and I was referred to an urologist to rule out cystitis(cant remember the name). At that moment I lost my health insurance, so I never went for that. A month ago, while at church, a friend of mine saw me rubbing my back and asked if He could adjust my back( he is a Quiropractor), I agreed and he told me that my hips were not aligned and proceeded to ajust my back. To my surprised, a day later my pain was gone, and I could enjoy sex with my husband again after a year. The next time I was expecting it to happen again, and it didnt. And it had not happened ever since that day at church that my back was adjusted. I went back to tell him about my pain, and he told me that he gets that story very often from female patients. I thought that this info might be helpful, cause I've suffered for a year tryng to find an answer, and I looked in forums and there is a large amount of women with the same type of pain(because it is very particular)and being misdiagnosed for lots of different diseases when it may be just a simple pinched nerve.

I am 22 and have been having the abdominal pain after an orgasm and randomly it would happen throughout the day. It was so intense I would just have to stop what I was doing and the pain would make me nauseated. I had CT, X-rays, internal and external ultrasound, and a colonoscopy. Everything was normal, which was very frustrating. This has been going on for three years, now and it is old.

The idea about an chiropractor is probably the best idea I have heard and I plan on pursuing that idea, especially since I have back pain as well.

Any other ideas please write, I am so happy to know that I am not the only one having this problem.

I am having the very same pain (if I had to pinpoint an area) would be right where my right ovary is when I have an orgasm. Which even achieving that is a task and a half only reached via magic, bullet- but anyway, This pain is needle sharp and scary. I have no clue what it is. I have had a history of ovarian cysts and had endometriosis removed from my uterus before, but this was never told to me as being a side effect : (

Oh thank you for the idea about the chiropractor!!! I came searching today for answers to lower left abdominal pain during orgasm because I tend to fear the worst when it comes to health matters. I was worried about ovarian cancer or something huge like that. After reading about the chiropractor, I remembered very clearly that I hurt my back not too long before this all started. I have felt completely unbalanced in my lower back. For people who also feel pain during exercise, a back problem could be the culprit as well. This will be what I try first, along with two weeks of no orgasm. If those things don't work, then I will go get a check-up.

everytime after an orgasm, i would have a stabbing pain in my lower abdomen.(it almost feels like its in my ovaries). along with this problem, my stomach is constantly hard and bloated to where i cant breathe. i wake up tired all the time and i will vomit randomly on some days without even feeling sick.could all this be possibly connected to the same problem? :-(

I have had this for 4years. After having 20 years of normal orgasm experience, one day had this pain! it began only during orgasm but now will occasionally occur when bowel is full. the pain is intense and after I feel as if I am bruised. Also I feel that it wouldn't take much for it to happen again. I can't talk during it, can't concentrate and need to do breathing exercise to get through it. I liken it to contractions during childbirth. I went to GP and she sent me for an ultrasound on my pelvis area and abdomen. Nothing abnormal showed up- a couple of small fibroids which is normal for my age (52). she then suggested it was a nerve! Then suggested I needed to see a doctor for sexual dysfunction! that was no answer at all. how can a woman who has has a normal enjoyable sex life start suffering pain like this? The pain is not normal- the pain is overwhelming. I have no answer. it is embarrassing and I don't wish to keep repeating my story to otherdoctors. It helps a little to know that others have the same symptoms and that I am not alone in the world.
