I discovered a small pea size lump under my right arm pit. My physician suspected it was a benign lympoma (sp). I now have a nickle size lump behind my right ear and also one under my jaw bone also on the right side. I think it's time to get a thorough check-up. My insurance is horrible. I'd like advice on what type of doctor to go see to get these lumps checked out so that I'm not bouncing from on specialist to another. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I'm not sure how things work in the states bit here in Australia, where we have a publicly funded system, you have to see your general physician and they will refer you to the appropriate specialist. Do the physician acts as a gatekeeper and ensures you see the right specialist. I would imagine you would need to see an oncologist of some sort but your physician is the best person to ask. she or he will know the specialists in your area and how to navigate the system also think about taking someone with you to any appointments like your partner, a sibling, a parent or close friend. They will remember what the doctor told you if you can't because you are eeling emotional and will be there to help you. Also, Don't delay. The sooner you get treatment the better. Take care and all the best.
Thank you! I did call my primary care doctor and he referred me to a general surgeon to have the lypoma (sp) under my arm pit removed. Then off to an Endocrinologist suspecting the other two are swollen lymph nodes. We shall see. Thanks again.
