I also am a daily smoker but do have times when I run out.  I have been out for 3 days and have had at least 20 hot flashes per night.  Prior to running out, I was having 1-2 at the most.  I am also more moody and tearful when I don't have it.  I am definitely on the hunt and just had someone drop off a care package.  I already feel better.

Hi I see you wrote over a year ago but I thought I would reply to you anyway. I too have found that certain strains of mmj help cool me down and work amazing for hot flashes. I have a doctor in CA who I could give you the # of and maybe she could direct you to someone in your area

It most definitely does relieve hot flashes! I think the indica dominant strains are more cooling.

I just googled this just to see what I was experiencing was! I have a medical marijuana card, and noticed that I no longer overheatAccra smoke after smoking just a little bit. I didn't pay attention to it first, but it's happened so many times that I thought it can't just be a coincidence. I don't just get hot flashes, I get hot and stay hot for hours. The marijuana sets my metabolism and heat back to normal

Synthetic THC does not have all the cannabinoids in it...You need the whole plants cannabinoids to stop your hot flashes...My wife uses a cannabis tincture that helps her for about 4 to 5 hr. and then time to medicate again

Hi,
Can you tell me what dosage/brand of tincture your wife uses? I am looking for a more economical way to medicate. I love the oil pen but have had lots of trouble with leaking. I live at 7000 feet and have found one needs to disengage the cartridge while traveling or the contents will leak out like a baby bottle. Very costly and frustrating. Anyway, I would appreciate more information on the tincture. I am in Arizona. Thanks!

This is a double edge sword topic. In my case, I feel pot actually brought on my periomenopause. Research shows regular pot use has acute effects on the hypothalamus, which is the center for all hormone production. Before me, the women in my family didn't experince menopausal symptoms until their late 40's -early 50's. I'm the first one to use pot regularly. And at only 44, I'm in the midst of heat flashes, anxiety, depression and everything else that comes from periomenopause. I've read that other women, who already have menopause, experience some relief from symptoms with medical marijuana. That is different because they are using it as a treatment for an already existing issue. But iny case, there is no doubt in my mind marijuana use brought ON my early periomenopause(I've been an almost daily user for the last 2 yrs). Right now, I'm quitting completely to see if it helps..

I can not BELIEVE how much it helps my unrelenting hot flashes.

It stops my unrelenting symptoms of hot flashing. It is a miracle for me as I had to come off my hormone replacement due to pancreatitis.

Hi, I am 51 years old and only began using marijuana 2 years ago at a friend's suggestion to help with perimenopausal hot flashes, sleep deprivation, moodiness and general muscle pains and tiredness. I had never used any drug before and am a very health conscious person. I do yoga and exercise and nothing was helping my symptoms until cannabis. I only need a small amount (1 hit). It has to be of good quality and certain stains work better than others. It has been a miracle for me and has given me my life back. Good luck to all!

Is there a specific kind to use for hot flashes and insomnia? Now that it's legal in WA there seem to be so many varieties. Where to begin???

Indica and indica dominant strains tend to work best for insomnia. No experience with use for hot flashes though (I was just looking this up to find info to help my mom with that issue). Talk to someone at a good dispensary. The "bud tenders", the folks who actually sell the stuff, should be knowledgeable about the strains and should be able to help recommend one for you. Good luck! I hope it works well for you. It's been amazing for my insomnia caused by chronic pain.
