I am 24 years old. I've been having stomach pains for a few years now and still have them. Been smoking for five years now. I've to a GI, not really helpful if you ask me. They put through a bunch of tests, no stones thank god. Some doctors have mentioned the marijuana being linked to people getting sick. But i strongly disagree that marijuana is the cause to my problems. Yes we all hurt when we cough, but who doesn't. Severe coughing can hurt you when you're healthy so... GI suggested the upper endoscopy, the camera into your stomach, doctor didn't find anything, no excess of resin buildup in my stomach lining. They looked in my intestins, colonoscopy, didn't find anything. I've been on a bunch of medications but unlike other people on this page, smoking mary jane helps with my pain. My experience leads me to believe that even if you smoke marijuana, you are bound to have stomach problems, specially if we don't eat healthy.
I was drinking alot of energy drinks in the past, still believe that the excess of drinking those horrible things is what caused my stomach problems. I've tried to stop smoking but I find it very hard to eat without it. I truly think that marijuana is not the cause of this. Until doctors prove me wrong i'm gonna blame this sickness on something else.

Towards the end of last summer my friend started to get sick throwing up.. One morning she woke up with terrible pains in her stomachs. She was in the hospital for a week but could not find anything wrong with her. Before this we both smoked.about six months ago I started to experience cramping in my lower stomach and was going to the bathroom constantly ( #2) I also get pretty bad stomach pains. My friend and I both smoke to help the pain but we also wonder could it be the weed that is causing this or something in it?

Hi my name is Tony and I just joined this forum so I could teach the hard headed " marijuana masters " the reason for the stomach problems.
So about a year a go I was smoking weed everyday , at least 3 blunts a day. After a few months of this I could not eat a single bite of food unless I smoked some marijuana so I made sure I always had some , I had gotten pulled over and the court said I would have to do a week in jail for being caught with marijuana more then 2 times . So I contacted a medical marijuana "doctor" . The only way to get out of the court situation was to get my green card so they could see I "needed" weed. I made an appointment and went to go see this doctor , around this time I was 18 years old and 115 pounds .. I looked like I was dieing.. I told this doctor I can't eat without marijuana.. I just have no appite I told him , everytime I tried to eat I threw it up . Every morning was hell I told him. So he gave me my medical marijuana card . Soon after I realized that I was going to be 19 soon and I looked 14 , so I decided even tho I loved weed more then anything in the world and all the rap artists I like rapped about weed every other word but I wanted to stop looking like a little boy. A week after I stoped smoking marijuana I was hungry again! I could eat and my stomach never felt acidy or like I was going to throw up , I shot up to 155 and I was hiting the gym everyday , I felt amazing! And I got a lot more bit***s.
It has been a good year since then and I recently moved out of my parents house to my own house with a roomate , my roomate smokes almost as much weed as I used to so I slowly started smoking everyday.. its been 4 months of smoking everyday and I'm back to slowly losing myself.. I can't eat unless I'm high or I have to force myyself and its never fun , I've gotten a lot smaller. My plan is to stop smoking everyday , it is clearly super unhealthy even tho I love weed.
I have a friend who smokes about the same as me , he is 6 3 and weighs 130 pounds . He's been to several doctors because once again " he can't eat " . I told my friend if he started smoking less he would see big changes. He told me " noo its not the weed I love weed " . I feel bad because I'm bigger then him , he's 6 3 and I'm 5 9. He's hard headed but sooner or later he will wanna stop living in hell.
The main point of this story is if you start having these problems and you need to choose marijuana or your health . Don't be hardheaded , if you don't believe that its the weed take 2 weeks off and post your story here.
I hope I can give insperation to at least one person to not want to have to wake up every morning feeling like your dieing.

Here is my theory for the moment
******I believe this may be the answer to that ongoing psychosematic, enigmatic, mysterious, stomach ulcer remnisent pain debate where no doctor or patient can seem to come up with a diagnosis*************
This isn't tied much into Marijuana use but my journey for answers has taken me to many different forums and discussion boards.
Is it addiction that causes the pain? Is it Love? Is it anxiety? I don't think it is any of those things.
If you vomit for any particular reason, the vomit will erode your esophogus and upper stomach. Especially if it sits there without being washed back down. Its because of the stomach acid. It will hurt when you put food back in your stomach afterward because the food irritates the sore lining of the stomach because it is not healed. Your body will want to trow up again to alleviate the pain and nausia. This will create a downward spiral of pain and agony.
I experienced it for a long time and did not know what was wrong with me. I was nausious all the time especially while brushing my teeth and could not eat because of no apetite. The Pain was almost unbearable when I did get food down. I tried alka seltzer, antacids, endoscopy down my stomach and the doctor found nothing but a more red than normal stomach. He didn't know what was wrong. Most doctors don't. Most just know how to deal out prescriptions.
Here's what I did to aleiviate the problem. If you are expereincing frequent nausia, loss of apetite, vomiting and more than anything, extreme upper abdominal pain. Here is what I think is the remedy. What worked for me anyways.
1. Stopped working out(only temporarily)
2. only eat what you can get down comfortably
3. Above all, DON'T ALLOW YOURSELF TO VOMIT because the stomach acid will erode your upper stomach and tubing and worsen the problem.
I went along like that for a while and before I knew it, the pain was gone! I can't remember the last time I had upper abdominal pain!

This guy went through that pain until the day he died. The exact same symptoms that I described above. I was amazed at what a simple fix it was for me. Believe me, I suffered for a LONG time. And I think this is what worked for me. Give it a shot if you like.
Also, another theory is that being under stress and maybe in love brings the pain. I think that is possible but I'm not sure of that.

Really, you don't have to smoke cannabis, you can vaporize if you find the smoke to be too irritating.
You can also eat cannabis, and many people prefer to do this.

"The only way to get smoke into your stomach and not your lungs, is to actually swallow the smoke. You can't just breathe and have it end up in your stomach. The simple thing to do if you think you may have swallowed some smoke, is to burp. It'll save you from any stomach pain, and you won't have people like me getting on here and thinking you're a m***n."
Forgive me if I'm wrong but you have just proven that you are the m***n! Do your research before posting your opinion. I've been a seasoned smoker for 10 plus years and if you decide to spend some time reading other than thinking you are smarter than everyone else you will actually find that when you smoke you will inevitable end up with smoke in your stomach and if you think that a simple burp is enough to rid the stomach from smoke, you are greatly misled mate. By stating your opinion you have proven nothing more than you are an id**t!
Having given away this dirty and unhealthy habit I have found that my stomach is becoming my friend, not my foe! The other thing I have found is that I have my taste buds back, food tastes so much better and more satisfying.
I encourage you all to give it away, I know it's hard but it is well worth the effort!

"PS, cannabis has been proven to CURE hemorrhoids, just found out a couple weeks ago on the Jay Leno show then I researched it online and found more information. It also has been known to cure some types of cancer. yes cure, as well as treat certain pains associated with cancers, it yes, has been known to CURE cases of cancer. look it up on google"
Yeah sure cause we all believe everything we see on Jay Leno and obviously "everything" on google must be true!
C'mon give me a break. Smoking causes hemorrhoids not cures them, it also causes cancer not cures it.
Some people are a lot more stupid than I thought.

Feeling everyones pain! Been an avid smoker well over 10 years, now 27 years of age. Started about a month ago with lower abdominal pains thinking it might be pancreatis or an ulcer. Had an upper endoscopy done with negative results. Next step was lactose/fructose/bacteria intolerances. Also negative! Came to realize about a week ago seemed to be heightened when smoking cannabis. Went two days without smoking felt better but not normal. Last night figured lets see if it is the weed. Took about four hits off a piece, nothing extreme just regular hits. Only reason i tried it was it helps me to fall asleep faster and dont want to get on any prescribed drugs with all them crazy side effects. Boom there it is again little queasy, shaky, and heightened pain in the abdominal area not even 15 mins after smoking. Never experienced this before kinda scary. Thinking i need to take a break from smoking to determine if is actually the cause of the problems. Have been a heavy consumer of soda/sweets and munchy food. Since a month ago have cut out all sodas/and sweets mostly chocolate bars and candy. Was hoping that was the cause but to no avail. Has anyone experienced what i have and been diagnosed with anything. If so will help me out tremendously. Do not really want to quit and want to know for sure if cannabis is the culprit. But for my health i'm quitting unless you guys can point me in another direction. Many thanks

Its a drug like any other. Take it and reward chemicals are released into the bloodstream lowering motivation. Do this long enough with any substance be it alcohol, drugs or other stiimulation and you will become your personal worse. be it a skinny hardgainer with stomach acid pain, or otherwise. Maybe thats why its so hard to pinpoint the symptoms, because everyone is different and reacts differently to different types of drugs.
Do what's right for you.

Hey guys, another idea on stomach pains Related to pot would be this: You're getting older. As the body ages, it tends to slow down. And from the looks of it, most of you all have been smoking For a while. I'm an experienced Marijuana smoker of 7 or 8 years now. And 2 years ago was when I started having Digestive problems and stomach pains. So I can assure you that unless you've unknowingly Become Rather addicted to Pot; You're symptoms are from something else. I'm assuming most of us are in the 20 to 30 age range? Check out some common problems with people when they start to hit that age. Many things can just... Happen after you're body hits it's breaking point. Lactose intolerance, Ulcers, WORMS, IBS, and Protein deficiency are only a Few things that can cause stomach pains. I would watch what you eat(TAKE DAILY RECORDS), and consult your doctor. Try bringing up Diseases that you have found on your own. They WILL consider it if they deem it plausible. And for crying out loud, be honest with them. Tell them everything you do that has to do with your health: What you eat, when and how long you sleep, how much and how often you drink, Smoke, Partake in Recreational drug use, what kind of Vitamins you take, as well as herbs, and Minerals(Drink tea?). Everything. you could possibly have gained an allergy in the past few years. 20-30 is when we start going from "invincible" to "Prone" At a rather fast rate.

Question for everyone on this topic. Have you been out of the country in past few years????Had a test done for bacteria overgrowth of the lower intestines??? Not saying to start tokin again. But this could be the case. Hope this helps!!!!

I smoked weed every evening most days for over two years, maybe three. At one point I stopped, and two weeks later developed acid reflux/stomach ulcer type symptoms. Gnawing pain, acid taste or bloody taste in my mouth, etc. I think I maybe had some kind of stomach infection at the same time. I saw a doctor; he didn't think it was serious and prescribed proton pump inhibitors that didn't really seem to do a whole lot. The worst symptoms nevertheless went away after six weeks.
Eventually I figured out that coffee, alcohol and to some extent tea made the symptoms far worse. Unfortunately I was in a very, very boring job and kept going back to the coffee as a result, which kept bringing my symptoms on again. Finally now I'm out of the job and have recently cut out the coffee, tea and alcohol completely after suffering six hours of terrible pain and bloating.
I don't know if I have an ulcer or not, but here's what I've figured out about this condition, whatever it is.
Firstly, although it may be a coincidence, it seems to be part of a cannabis withdrawal syndrome. Clearly not everyone experiences this, but many do, it seems. Along with this horrible stomach problem, I also predictably get vivid dreams and night sweats for months after I stop smoking weed (and I'm not planning to start again, ever -- well, unless I get cancer or something and need it to cope with pain and nausea).
Maybe it's different for everyone, but in my case, as I say, coffee, alcohol and tea are bad news.
Antacids help if the acid gets too much, but don't do much for the gnawing pain.
Apples really, really help. If I wake up in the night with pain, I'll eat an apple (maybe with a glass of milk) and often that sorts it out. I can't recommend apples enough. Apple juice is also mildly helpful.
I'm trying apple cider vinegar, two teaspoons mixed into a glass of water, but I'm not sure it helps. I will try it if I get another "attack". The rest of the time apples stave off the worst.
When you think about it, it makes total sense that cannabis withdrawal would cause these symptoms in some people. Many of us get into the habit of eating huge amounts while stoned, then eating little the rest of the time. This messes up your stomach's rhythm. I have also found that cannabis hugely reduces my level of intelligence when I'm into a serious habit. It takes the edge off my thought processes and I cannot do mathematics or physics effectively. I would love cannabis to be a harmless drug; I do feel as though I learnt a lot while stoned --- but it does build up in your system, after some years it does start to make you feel zonked all the time, tired and lacking in energy, I suspect it is the main cause of my stomach problems, and smoking in itself is terribly bad for your health. Tobacco smoking is an established strong risk factor for stomach ulcers; and it may be counter-intuitive but smoke can and does find it's way down your oesophagus without you realising.
Take home advice: try eating apples if you get hyper acidity or gnawing stomach pain problems, especially after quitting cannabis. Stay off coffee, tea and booze.
