your INR should have been lower not higher. Vitamin K thickens your blood. I have been on coumadin for about 7 years. I juice every other day 2 three ounce classes about an hour apart. I have not had any noticeable effects as of yet. After two ProTime checkups. I also have a mechanical heart valve, The company that invented my valve sent me a letter a few months ago reducing my coumadin INR level from 2.0 - 3.0 down to 1.5 -2.0 . since it has been higher than that for quite some time which was stable at around 2.5 or so. If the vitamin K in the Cannabis lowers your INR I will be about as good of a research guinea pig as any one. Their could be a risk, probably is. I will now within the next month or so how it affects to my INR level.

I use daily all day long and I am on coumidin recently I got sick and stopped smoking and my inr went off the chart over 8.0 plus I was on antibiotics that raised it as a side effect but Dr. Said it would not raise it that high so its my opinion that it does have vit.K but used moderately no problem but if you use like me then yes it will affect your inr. I am over60 and although I don't smoke it any more I do eat edibles and use my valcano vape. The main thing people is to be consistant with your use and your Dr. Will regulate your coumidin and know that if you stop your inr will rise . be safe and stay informedwater

I have been on coumadin long time and I've found that mmj does have vitamin K but if you use the same amount everyday it won't hurt you and let your Dr. Regulate it. Your coumadin, However if you stop your inr will spike . I stopped cause I got sick and my inr range normally is between 2&3 well when I stopped my mmj it spiked to 8.0 this is not good. Iam a heavy user and plan to start again after I clean out for a while

I'm on anti coagulats, 13 yrs now. And the truth about vit k. It's a non issue as long as ur inr numbers are maintained. Essentially one will need to adjust theor dosage accordingly. The same goes for eating leafy veggies to. Simply monitor your inr regularly.
Without k & more importantly k2 cell walls will degenerate into health weakness & illnesses.
Balances and do what you need to do for your better health.

Seetpea I would love to hear what you have found out, I'm 61 and just had a Mitral valve, manmade put in a year ago, I'm in good shape, but worried about vaping, seems like a bad idea after having open heart surgery to chance it by vaping THC but I sure like to once in a while.

NO! Coumadin does not interact with cannabis. It does, however interact with butane! Most edibles, concentrates and vape pens are butane extracted. I changed to a butane-extracted oil while doing the Rick Simpson protocol for my own prostate cancer. I've been taking warfarin for over a decade, and while before and after the BHO I used alcohol extracted Rick Simpson Oil with no problems, the BHO caused my coagulation index to bottom out. I. Was taking about 1500 mg/day at that point.

Bottom line: from my personal experience, butane extracted products can make the Warfarin less effective, depending, of course, on dosage. It may not be an issue however, because there is research done in Israel, which indicates cannabis provides a prophylactic effect against blood clots...

My 87 yr old father is on coumadin, because of 2 stents, as well as atrial fribulation. He is almost blind due to glaucoma. Do you think cannibas would raise the k levels if vaped or baked into food?

I am in the exact same situation as you and I see there was no reply... did you happen to get one that I am missing?

Do you now have a stable INR?
And are you still smoking pot?
I am a pot smoker, but am afraid to have it. I had open heart surgery a month ago and am now on warfarin forever.
Thanks

I've been on coumadin for 25 years. I've been hospitalized at three different occasions with massive blood clots in my lungs. They put a stent in one of my valves but it filled with more blood clot so now I'm on coumadin for the rest of my life. the blood clots develop after two separate surgery for ovarian cancer .alcohol is a natural blood thinner. I'm on this site because I'm asking the same question can I take marijuana as a painkiller and not worry about the vitamin K in it. The cannabis I'm using right now is oil based. And the directions say to put it under the tongue. That's nasty. The marijuana I'm using is medical marijuana that I purchase online . The company's call Liberty lotion. it is 300 milligrams per dose of CBD. I tried some regular marijuana and my son told me when I used to smoke pot 30 plus years ago it was like 7% but I got my hands on some that was probably 21% THC. Hallucinations I forgot what they felt like.

Your one is low because of the amount of beer, combined with the marijuana, your liver is metabolising the drug faster as its filtering the rest of your blood binge drinking is the worst on warfArin. Throws your into way out of wack. Warfarin user for over 8 years and also studied the effects and usage in depth for over 7
