Hi...I am a 30 yr. old female who has been smoking pot for 15 years, off and on. I used hard drugs for about a 6 year period, and have quit everything but smoking. For the past 3 years i've been smoking daily, especially at night to just chill out. Some people say it's only psychologically addictive, and throughout my early years of treatment for smoking most counselors agreed with this theroy. However, marijuana is today much higher in THC content, and I do believe there is also a physiological addiction involved...I've been in outpatient rehab (drug counseling) for about 6 months, and have cut down significantly, but i feel i can't STOP. I've had a rough week, and all that is on my mind is smoking...There is a lot of pressure on me to quit, but the truth is that i feel that it helps me with my chronic back pain, (Injured in '01 by an auto accident) appetite, anxiety, sleep, and mood swings I also am on several medications; some of which are controlled substances prescribed to me for anxiety/depression. The "professionals"
claim that my smoking is perpetuating my addiction, but the medication i am on is VERY addictive. Klonopin, Celexa, and Suboxone withdrawal is worse than the most conceivable marijuana withdrawal anyone could imagine, and If i do not quit, I will lose my insurance to pay for these meds... I've tried AA and NA, herbal remedies, rehabs, counseling, etc....just about everything. If there is ANYONE out there that has any advice or is in a similar predicament, i would be most grateful for any suggestions, comments or advice.
