Well, here from a Google search. Been off MJ 2 months (until a relapse last night--more on that in a minute). Never had BP issues in my life. After quitting MJ, had suddenly developed high BP, wound up in ER with 220+ systolic, 100+ diastolic. Multiple other times it was dangerously high (hypertensive urgency) as well.
Bought BP machine and also RXed mild anxiety medication. Baseline BP still running stage 2 hypertension levels (150s), and this is with being cautious about everything I do (no more whiskey, NSAIDs, caffeine, etc.).
Smoked 420 last night. Drank whiskey like a fish too. Blood pressure perfect 120/80 first time in months.
I worked so hard to quit, but Idk what to do. BP medication seems like a worse alternative than MJ. Maybe I'll try to taper off instead of quitting cold turkey.
Thanks for this discussion everyone. I think it's important. Not a lot of info out there.
20 years heavy user. Quit cold turkey when my dad died six months ago. BP skyrocketed. I got into running and taking garlic, beet juice, magnesium taurate, and that slowly helped. It took about two months to get back to 'normal'. I started using MJ again, and it actually sped up the process of lowering my BP.
Here's the interesting part: I'm on a three week vacation currently in Kentucky where MJ is illegal. My BP has again skyrocketed almost instantaneously upon withdrawal. It would be a massive oversight to believe the two aren't connected.
