This may be the case of skin sensitivity as it's a sensitive part but to find exactly the cause ,we shoud first know about wht kind of surgery it was only after tht we can diagnose wht exactly the cause is.

I started using mederma 2 days ago and it made my scar very itchy. I'm glad I found these reviews because at least now I know I'm not the only one complaining about the severe itching. It's unbearable, I have to wash it off after 5 minutes of application. I don't know if I should continue using it.

I had plastic surgery on my face a month ago skin cancer). I am using Mederma on the scar once a day. It itches like crazy. I'm relieved it isn't only me. I'll speak to my doctor this week.

I have a burning spot on my chick . it be since about 10 years ago .do I use medrma on that spot??
What kind of scars it heal ? Burning or other.

I only do love dermalmd stretch mark cream. While it says it's for stretch marks and scars, I use it all over my face as well and it seems to do a great job of moisturizing, smoothing and evening my skin tone. I am mid-40s so these are all very good things! I have even started recommending it to my husband. .

I'm so glad I paid attention to this comment! I've been using Mederma for three nights and have experienced intense itching and "piercing" feeling you mentioned. Tonight I took a full minute to rub/massage it into my skin and haven't felt any itching or discomfort. Thank you!

I had a burn scar on my leg. The scar itched a lot due to mederma and the scar peeled off and I got a brand new skin :) if your skin is itching the cream is peeling the old skin and fading the scar. Keep using it. Bear the itching.

I am having very similar experience. Mohs surgery on nose. Skin pulled down to close the wound at my nostril so the incision begins up fairly close to my eye. When I put the mederma on at night it itches. In the morning the itching has stopped, I wash my face and all is good until mid afternoon. Then my eyes get really irritated, like you said, almost as if there were an eyelash in them. I hope this work!

iam using mederma on old surgery scar ,can i use it more than the recommended times for applying the gel on my scar ,i really need to get rid off the scar,its awful!

Thanks for the advice. I started rubbing it in more and the itching totally stopped and started really healing scar quickly.

My scar was itchy as hell when I started applying Mederma on it, but someone suggested rubbing the gel into the scar, as this allows the micro beads to exfoliate the skin, rather than sit there which causes a piercing sensation. Totally worked for me, no more itch and my scar started fading immediately.

I’ve used mederma before but never had this type of itching, my scar I had on my face was a burn like the current scar now and went away with no complications or itch. This scar I have now is right smack in the middle of my stomach (a burn) and it itches like crazy ! Almost unbearable I wake up and want to itch my stomach I had to take a break from mederma overall but I must admit this is partly my fault I was using the usual mederma 1x a day cream 2x a day, and night cream yet ignored signs of the night cream kind of burning when I applied it till the itchiness came and I itched so bad I now have a ring that looks like a bruise around my scar smh ! Help itchy and bruised looking worse scar what do I do next? I’ve stopped my use of mederma for a couple days but it was fading before I itched should I go back and just use 1x a day like it says to do after I get the itching to stop ?
