Hi, my name is Donna. I am peri-menopausal with periods absent off and on for months at a time only to return irregularly and then disappear. I haven't had a period in almost 9 months. My dilemma at the moment is that I am experiencing very tender enlarged breasts and intermittent cramping without bleeding. I have taken several pregnancy tests and have mixed results....three negatives and two very faint positives. All the tests were performed according to the instructions except that I urinate so frequently that it's never more than three or four hours until first morning sample.
For the past 2-3 weeks I have been cramping like a raging period is about to start and then...nothing. The breast symptoms are still present, but nausea could be a stress result of recent surgery on my back. The surgeon (who could have saved the laughter for after I'd left) assured me off the record that the surgery was unrelated to the symptoms.
I'm not a total id**t when it comes to recognizing what my body is telling me...I am the very proud mama of six...with my first grandchild due in December. But, with the absence of periods, I'm at a loss to know just what's going on here. My concern isn't just that I could be pregnant, but that I may have had a miscarriage that has not expelled as this sadly has occurred before including twins lost at 42.
Since my back injury was work related, I have a ton of eyes poking about my medical records and am greatly concerned about accidental disclosures to my employer or I'd head straight for my doctor.
Any thoughts or experiences to share??? I sure would appreciate the company.

HI there, my vote goes with menopause only because of the large number of kids that you have plus your age, which would possibly cause this issue. I'm not sure if it was a miscarriage. Have you seen a doctor about this? I think it might be a good idea just to get a quick sonogram to make sure things are okay. What do you think?

Hi ,Healthnfitnessguy. Thank you for the reply.
I was in fact correct on this one. Doctor confirmed a positive test result and an ultrasound was performed. Once the initial wide eyed stun wore off, and we had a serious Q & A with the Doctor, we were actually excited by this unexpected privelage. The cramping was a concern and further tests revealed the hcg level was in fact decending and a second ultrasound was done to confirm that nature was in fact taking it's course.
I am very blessed to have the family that I have, each of whom was a high risk pregnacy, and while I am deeply saddened at the moment, I do understand that these things happen for a reason.
I will be welcoming my grandson in just a few weeks and look forward to watching my daughter experience those same blessings.
Thank you again for the response.
