I have a friend who keeps telling me about his problems the same story every day. However, he never says anything to me, beside he has problem with some microorganisms. I know those are some tiny creatures, but I want to know more. I want to hear what you could tell me about microorganisms. I would appreciate any info, because I hate to be in dark about some topic.
A microorganism or microbe is an organism that is so small that it is microscopic, which means those are invisible to the naked eye. Microorganisms are often illustrated using single-celled or unicellular organisms. Some unicellular protists are visible to the naked eye, and some multi-cellular species are microscopic. The study of microorganisms is called microbiology; I believe you have already heard about this. Microorganisms may be found almost anywhere, and it is important to know that unicellular organisms carry out all the functions of life. Unicellular species are those whose members consist of a single cell throughout their whole life cycle. This latter qualification is significant since most multi-cellular organisms consist of a single cell at the beginning of life cycles. Usually, unicellular organisms contain only a single copy of their genome, although some organisms have multiple cell nuclei. Microorganisms are found everywhere in nature, even in hostile environments, like the poles, deserts, geysers, rocks, and the deep sea. Some types of microorganisms have adapted to the extreme conditions and sustained colonies. Microorganisms are used in brewing, baking, biotechnology, recycling of other organisms' remains and waste products, but they can also be harmful as pathogen, causing infections.
