Hello all, I have a question: Does anyone out there get mild hypos and take Jelly Babies to bring their blood sugar levels up? I take dextro when that happens but I've heard that some people take Jelly Babies. Is that okay to do? I've always liked Jelly Babies and would surely like to have them again. Any other candies would be great as well. I've just tried to stay away from candies because of all the other stuff in them. So, does anyone have any suggestions? I'd appreciate it if someone would share with me. I hope I get some positive answers on this one. Thanks.

Hi, Oh my goodness, I think Jelly Babies are the best and they work great on mild hypos. I think they have a little less than 5 grams of carbs in one regular size but I'm not sure about the minis. But, of course they would have less. I found that the Jelly Babies are great when I'm exercising or out for a walk. I don't know if Jelly Babies work for everyone though. I had a friend tell me that the rise in blood glucose levels is a little slow for them. So, I guess it just depends on who you are. Chances are you will need to try a few of them and see how that works for you. It might take a week or so before you get the hang of it. I guess it's mostly trial and error. Right now it's winter time and I found that the Jelly Babies get a little hard when I'm outside. But of course, there is no problem inside. I particularly like the mixed colored ones but you'll have to decide for yourself. Overly, I think Jelly Babies are a lot better than taking dextro because they have such nice flavors. However, I've heard that dextro can be gotten with flavoring as well. You might even consider that if you want to stick with sugar tablets.
