Hello,
I have recently noticed something coming out of my rectum. It, by all means, looks as a slight mucosal prolapse.
Happens only when I strain myself really hard.
There are 2 types of prolapses: full prolapse and mucosal prolapse.
In case of full prolapse surgery is needed.
Bu what about mucosal prolapse? I found on the internet that it can be treated the same way as hemorrhoids(rubber band ligation and sclerotherapy)
Has anyone had these procedures performed on their mucosal prolapse?
Thanks in advance

If you have to have the rubberbansd ligation, there is a much less barbaric way of doing it. You can find a dr. that will do it while you are either numbed or out completely. It should be your choice. It can be very painful. If you go with being put out completely, you will need to go into the hospital and they will not let you go until your pain is managed. Also, they won't let you go until they make sure you can urinate. Sometimes, due to the swelling, people need assistance with a cath. Mine is 1 1/4 inches and there is supposed to be a month recovery.
I have had the rubberband ligation done 3 times on me. Not once was it ever painful. Did not take pain medicine before or after. The only discomfort was after the procedure you feel that you may want to have a bowel movement or slight pressure to that effect. You simply walk out of the office, go home and elevate your legs and rest for the rest of the day if you can. Avoid lifting anything for the day and take it easy. It is a nothing procedure..........
