Well, if your lifestyle carries a risk of injury involving a tetanus infection, the consequences of getting the shot are better than dying from lockjaw.

I received a shot months ago and my arm still hurts. The pain comes and goes and sometimes it throbs. I went back to the doctor the other day for something else and told her about it and she said the nurse probably hit a nerve in my arm and that it could a long time to go away! I think they should warn patients of all the possible symptoms that are listed above. I guess if they did no one would get the shot!!

I had my vaccine a month ago and my arm still hurts. I can't use my arm without feeling a lot of pain. How long will this last? I thought I was the only one experiencing these side effects. When will it stop?

Never use heat compress on anything swollen or inflamed !!!!the cool ice pack will be just fine just wrap it up in a paper towel or banana or washcloth or something like that.

I don't mind getting a reaction if I'm warned! I actually asked the nurse if I could expect any side effects (like I did as a child) and she said no. Frankly, it's totally unnecessary and patronising to suggest that people shouldn't complain if they're left feeling ill after a vaccination! I'm just hoping that professionally you don't have to deal with people with that kind of attitude!

Like you, I had NO idea that my arm would feel this sore. I've also suffered headaches, dizziness and feeling sick. Mine IS feeling better now but I would go back to the doctors if it was still hurting after a month? I am glad I found this site as I was beginning to feel like a wimp!

I have always had a severe reaction to tetanus shots when given in the arm, so because of this, every shot since child hood has been given to me in the thigh or hip. In the past, the injection sight has become red and somewhat swollen, but NOTHING like the reaction in my arm. I just got a tetanus shot this past Monday in my right hip, and oddly enough my right arm is sore. This has never happened before but I will take this slight discomfort as opposed to getting the shot in the arm. I would suggest that everyone here get their shots in the thigh or hip in the future also.

This sounds like me except I got a tetanus and flu shot and the tetanus was put in my dominant arm and I feel like you describe. When did it get better?

I got the tetnus shot two months ago , still having trouble with it, if i try to lift anything heavy it goes back to the way it was in severe pain. Also have tingling down my arm into my hand. I think she gave it to me in the wrong muscle or hurt a nerve.
