I am a mother of the 7 years old child and I am terribly afraid for her, although everyone says that she does not have anything to worry about. My child is going for tonsillectomy – how dangerous is it? I cannot remember the time I had this procedure done, but I do remember I cried a lot afterwards.
Well, perhaps you had a bad experience with that procedure and that is why you are reacting this way now. But don’t be afraid, this procedure is quite common and short one and will help your kid in overall health. There is a tiny problem because this might be a first procedure for her with a lot of unknown faces around her, and that might frighten her.
Hello there,
There is no need to be so frightened and stressed because of this especially around your daughter because if she notices that you are worried she will be even more scared. This is very common procedure which is not painful because she will be given local anesthetic. During the procedure she will not feel a thing but afterwards it can be quite painful so you should be around her all the time. recovery period is usually two weeks but sometimes even less.
Try to keep her busy with movies or books so that she doesn’t pay that much attention to her throat. And after this procedure she will not have any more tonsil problems like before.
