Okay so I read all of the posts on this topic from beginning to end. I found a similar pattern...

1) Almost everyone that went to a gynecologist was told that there is nothing to worry about
2) Mostly the onset of this issue came after a period of infertility IE... birth control, pregnancy, miscarriage, D&C, or those nearing menopause

So my story is: I am 24, when I first started my periods they were long (7days), heavy, and painful. I went on birth control and my periods were long (7 days) and heavy. I just went off birth control after 11 years and had a 1 day very heavy period, I went through 3 overnight pads and then my period just stopped.

I work in the healthcare industry (nurse) and after reading all the posts and my own story I have come to a conclusion, THIS IS NORMAL especially after a period of altered fertility. Also this WILL NOT EFFECT FERTILITY. We can all stop worrying. And for those that think you could be pregnant if a short period is not normal for you then yes you could be pregnant so just take a test and put your mind at ease.

This is very reassuring. I was on the birth control patch Evra for about 2 years but stopped using this at the start of Oct '10. My periods have only been lasting for 1 day since but they are every 28 days. It has been worrying because my periods was about 5 days prior to the patch and my periods was even heavier on the patch then they are now. I only get through about one pad in one day. I don't think my hormones are quite in balance because I am not really getting the EWCM. I have just started for a baby and this month I am trying Vitex and Donq Quai to help balance things out. Maybe the 1 day period is normal for me now that I am 30. My mum said her periods got shorter and lighter as she was about my age. It is normal for hormones to change as you get older, I think it is the sudden shock from 5 to 1 days bleed that makes it worrying.

You may have an irregular period. Many things can affect your cycle as diet, stress, etc. that may happened especially when changing your eating habits. You can try having naturally vitamin C, I mean fruits that could help circulate your blood and have a regular days of period at the next month.

I am 32, about to turn 33 this month actually. Have one daughter who is 7. I've been on and off the pill since I turned 18. First couple of years I took Nordette, last several years I've been on Femiane. In January, when I finished a box and should have break for my period, I went straight into another box since my husband and I had a weekend getaway planned. That month I had a "regular" period. Regular in that it was very light (as usual) but still consistent for five days. Imagine my surprise then when this month, my period came on Monday and by Tuesday it was over. My tampon was practically spotless on Tuesday. It's Wednesday now and I'm not even wearing one, just a panty shield. Just wanted to post because the previous posts eased my concerns A LOT! Hope this post does that for someone else.

BTW, my lower abdomen still feels a little achy. I don't have cramps, just a little achy feeling in that pubic hair (groin) region, so I guess I am still on my period. Oh well, I'm going to look at this as a blessing and not complain.

Hi, I am 19 and currently on the pill, I noticed my periods only last one day at most now quite often they are at the end of the 'sugar' pills. I am sexually active so its always a worry when it doesn't appear in the first 5 days or so... but I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if that was at all normal? I do nursing but nobody has really given me a definitive answer on the matter...

I just wanted to say that I don't think it is normal. My friend has the same issue. Only bleeds for 24hrs and its done. She's been trying to get pregnant for years and can't they can find no reason and believe its due to her periods & hormones.

You all seem to be in your 20's to 30's but I'm in the same situation but I'm only 16? My periods used to be 6 days but over the last couple of months they are 1 and a bit days. Should I be worried? I am sexual active but I'm not pregnant as it was a mistake a couple of years ago and I haven't done it since. I told my friend and she said that's not normal but don't all women have different lengths? xx

hi all, im back,  i have good news for you guys,  My period is back on track  (after almost 2 years of experiencing light periods,)  It all started when I used a  herbal sanitary napkin with negative ion, I don't really remember the brand name i think "cherrie" is the name of the product, when I started using it i feel menthol feeling  and  uncomfortable, I only used it for one cycle, then my next cycle is regular, it lasted form 3 to  4 days, i was very happy because from 2 to 3 days it was heavy bleeding  like you will need 4 pads a day..  i hope you try it maybe this is the solution to  our problems, good luck, thanks
