I have chronic neck pain due to wrestling, and also due to wrestling it cracks all the time and sometimes I have a secondary symptom with the neck cracking. I have however recently had neck pain bad enough that I had to go see my doctor. When being examined he asked me about injuries and other symptoms, and I told him about how when my neck cracks every once and a while, I get an intense sensation down my arms, like an electric shock, and I lose control of my arms temporarily. I had an MIR done, but the results aren't back yet. Does any one know what I is wrong with my neck?
I have been experiencing the exact same symptoms. It is beginning to worry me. I started looking on the net just now because of it. Whenever I sit at the computer and don't keep my neck in a straight position it starts burning in the back and hurts. I have to sit in a chair with it reclined to keep it from happening. Unfortunately, today it started to get tight and began to burn, when leaned my head down to stretch it, it cracked/popped. What followed was an intense shock down both my arms, like I was being electrocuted. This time, it lasted longer than normal. Usually it's a short burst, but this time it felt like it lasted for about second. I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis back a few years ago in my lower back, but this is something completely different. I too was a wrestler and have had my neck wrenched pretty hard, I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I need to figure out how to keep this from getting worse.
Any help helpful advice would be appreciated.

Wild Willy

This is nothing to worry about, but basically in the back of your neck theres a hole that a bunch of nerves are feed threw, and everytime you crack your neck that hole gets smaller and tightens up on your nerves causing damage to them and when the hole is tight around them when you crack your neck and it gets a bit smaller its sending that electric shock threw the nerves that run down your arms. to give an example of what im talking about, the expression i just hit my funny bone, its not your 'bone' but im sure you know that, its a nerve in your arm it tingles when you hit it. and really theres nothing you can do about it except stop cracking your neck and look up neck excersices or go to your doctor for some.
L'hermettes sign. Look it up.
